Miguel looked around frantically, trying to figure out the source of the screams.

Just then, there was the sound of metal being compressed. A terrible, haunting noise that rippled through the air. Miguel and Peter both looked to the building that they had previously been standing in. The structure had begun to collapse while flickering into an ensemble to glitching lights. People began to run away from the building, frightened shrieks from adults and children alike followed in pursuit.

Suddenly, a figure bumped into Miguel and looked up at him with frightened eyes.

It was Rio, Miles mother. She was holding onto her sons hand with a death grip. Miguel looked from her to Miles, the little boys face was more distraught than any childs should ever be.

"Whats happening?" She cried to Miguel, as if he had an answer.

"I, I don't know." Miguel's heart was pounding and he was still trying to process the spectacle of flashing reds, purples, pinks, and oranges in front of him.

Then, Rio, Miguel, and Peter B watched as the building fizzled out of existence and a horrifying black nothingness stood in its place.

"Run." Was all Peter could tell Rio.

She took his word and quickly scooped little Miles up into her arms and held his face close to her. Miguel watched his little fingers close tightly around his mothers shirt. Such a little life with such an uncertain future. How tragic.

Once the two had left, Miguel stared hard at the black hole eating up the world with such tantalizing vigor. Panic properly began to set in for Miguel.

"Lyla, turn on my suit." Miguel said in a hushed manor.

"But Miguel, what about Gabriella?"

"Lyla turn on the damn suit!" Miguel yelled, his voice strained.

Lyla quickly did so and Miguel watched as Peter took it as his cue to reveal the suit he had on below his clothing. It was mandatory that all the Spiders in the Spider society should have their suits on at all times when visiting other worlds.

Peter B split from Miguel to help guide the other citizens away from the encroaching dark mass, while Miguel looked for Gabriella amongst the kids scrambling for their parents and guardians.

"Gabriella!" He called, his face not hidden behind his usual mask. With the sheer amount of fear he saw in the people around him, he felt that for them to see a face the same as theirs may bring a small sense of comfort to them.

"Papa!" Miguel heard a small voice cry from off in the distance. Miguel quickly navigated towards the voice as the people around him began to flee in the opposite direction.

"Papa!" He heard for the second time.

"I'm right here mija!" Miguel yelled.

Once he finally caught a glimpse of Gabriella he bolted over to her and picked her up. She had no idea what was going on, just like the rest of them. Gabriella rested a tensed hand on his chest and she smoshed her cheek into his front.

"Whats happening papa?" Her brow was worried into a tight line.

"I don't know!" Miguel was trying to keep the fear out of his voice.

Miguel saw Peter B beckon for him to continue running with the rest of the crowd.

Something told Miguel that whatever was going on, was not going to be stopped.

Miguel ran, and Peter ran, and Rio, and the girl that lived two doors down, the store owner, the lovers, the guilty, the hurt. Nothing had anything left behind.

Miguel glanced over his shoulder to see buildings tumbling down from the foundation up, swallowed by the abyss. He held Gabriella closer as they ran. Gabriella sensed the fear in Miguel's grip and it scared her.

"Papa?" She sobbed, looking up at him, her big brown eyes teary.

"Yes?" Miguel whispered, his heart breaking at the sight of his daughter in such a state of distress.

"I'm scared."

"I know mija, I love you. I love you so much. I love you and don't you ever forget that. I love you and your coach loves you, and Peter B loves you, and Mj loves you, and your teacher loves you, and Peter loved you." Now, Miguel was crying, but he kept running.

Looking behind him again, he saw something he wished he didn't.

The people that had started running too late, had begun to deteriorate before the darkness could even reach them. They left in a shimmer of glittering colors. It would've been beautiful if it wasn't the loss of a life. Miguel watched as it began to happen quicker and quicker, the people disappearing growing closer and closer to where they were desperately trying to get away.

In an instance, Miguel began to notice Gabriella's sudden discomfort. She began to squirm in his arms. The thought that he could loose his daughter hadn't even crossed his mind before that day. Miguel continued to run, watching Gabriella carefully as she became more and more unsettled and afraid.

"Daddy? Dad! Dad! Help!" Were the last words Gabriella was able to get out before she too was chiseled away.

Miguel stood empty handed and empty hearted. His little girl, gone in the blink of an eye. The one he loved most, lost.

Miguel stopped running. He looked at his empty hands, wondering what he did wrong. Miguel stood amongst the chaos and destruction in complete silence as everyone around him did the opposite. Slowly, everybody else dissipated.

Peter B stood by Miguel's side, but Miguel payed no attention to him.

Why did he always do something wrong? He was slowly loosing everyone he loved.

So, it was then that Miguel decided maybe, it was best to not love anyone at all.
