AAAAAAAAAA I'M SORRY I'M GETTING THIS OUT SO LATE

________________________________________________________________________________

The Parkers showed up at the O'haras at 6:25, by Miguel and Gabriella didn't mind. Miguel understood the challenge of having a new born child. Miguel heard them bickering on the doorstep over whether they should knock or ring the door bell.

"That thing looks ancient! I doubt it works." Miguel heard Mj whisper to Peter B who in response said, "I know I know, but knocking is absolutely terrifying when you don't know who it is!"

"I'm pretty sure Miguel is going to know its us, Peter. Now, you've got fluff on your shoulder."

"Ack! Stop attacking me!"

"I'm getting at the fluff!" Mj scolded, "I told you to use the lint roller before we left you silly man!" Mj chuckled.

Miguel opened the door and greeted the pair with soft hugs.

In Mjs right hand sat a carrier with a tiny little hat cover head. Itty bitty hands reached up towards the sky, gripping for the fresh air.

"Come in," Miguel gestured to the inside of his house, "Gabriellas just setting up the table. I made some kosher barbacoa." Miguel told them as they follow him inside and to the dining room.

"I will say, it was a nightmare to find." Miguel chuckled as he rubbed at the back of his neck, his claws edging out due to the fact he was nervous about the whole ideal. Miguel was an atheist and knew nothing about Jewish culture so he was just hoping he had been going about it in all the right ways.

"Really? Thats amazing! Thank you, truly Miguel." Peter B said pulling off his coat.

Miguel extended a hand and offer to take their coats.

Once the jackets had been hung, Miguel continued to lead the three towards the dining room.

Gabriella had seated herself on one of the long ends of the table next to a wooden highchair. She hopped up and went to greet the guests. She gave Peter a hug before shaking Mjs hand.

"I'm Gabriella, I'm glad I can finally meet you! Peter has been hogging all of my papas attention."

"Is that so?" Mj laughed giving Peter B a knowing look.

"I was kind of hoping Mayday could sit next to me?" Gabriella said in the form of a question, looking at the three adults in front of her.

"Of course she can!" Mj said smiling at the young girl.

Gabriella nodded her head in thanks and went back to the table to sit down. Next to her lay small book which she eagerly picked up and began to read.

"Is she a big reader?" Mj asked Miguel.

"Oh, yes. She quite enjoys reading actually. If I'm being honest, I wasn't expecting that from her, but I guess thats what happens when you read to your daughter every night. Can I get you guys anything to drink? I did my research and got some kosher wine." Miguel spoke sheepishly.

"The dedication Miguel! I'm proud!" Peter smiled, patting Miguel in the back as if to congratulate the man.

"Well, since you went to effort, I'd love some." Mj told him.

"I second that." Peter said in agreement with his beautiful wife.

Once Miguel came back with wine for the three of them and made a second trip for apple juice for Gabreilla, they all sat down and Miguel began to pass the barbacoa around.

"So, watcha reading kiddo?" Peter B asked from where he sat across the table from Gabriella who had long since put the book down.

"I'm on the fifth book in the Box Car Children series! Papa and," she paused, "and Peter read the first three to me and then papa got too busy to read so I started reading them on my own." Gabriella boasted.

Peter B looked to Miguel who had his head down, biting his lip, and toying at his food silently. Peter B could tell Miguel was trying hard to focus on anything but Peter, but having another family where one had previously been was surely making it very difficult for the poor man.

"Thats wonderful! You know, I read those growing up. How about your father? Does he do any reading?" Peter B asked her, trying to get off the subject of Peter.

"I dunno." Gabriella shrugged and began feverishly munching away at her meat. She really was quite the meat lover.

"Do you like reading?" Mj piped up, repeating Peter Bs question to Miguel.

"Huh? Oh, yeah, its nice when I can find the time to do so." Miguel conjured up a small smile for the family, "I don't mind a good classic." Miguel continued, "I'm reading Whethering Heights at the moment. Its wonderfully written. Emily Brontës use of the weather is genius." Miguel was clearly much more of a book worm than he let on.

Sudden banging on the highchair distracted the gang from their conversation as they looked over to where Mayday was squirming in the seat. She was beginning to tear up and get antsy. Soon the water droplets fell and Mayday had become a whaling mess.

Peter B looked to the large grand father clock that took up one of the corners in the room.

"It's past her bedtime so shes going into her grumpy banshee mode." Peter B said, getting up from the table and taking Mayday out of the chair to place her back into the carrier they had brought her in.

"Let me help you clean up." Mj offered to Miguel as she too stood up and began to pick up her plate along with Peters.

By then Peter B had already departed from the room, Gabriella trailing behind him, and was in the process of taking Mayday off to the car to spare Miguel her screaming, knowing his ears were extra sensitive to noise.

"Oh don't worry about it. I can get it afterwards. Is there anything I can do for you?" Miguel asked Mj.

Mj walked over to him, an empathetic look painted on her gentle, deer-like face.

"Just, take care of yourself, okay?" She softly smiled before going in for a hug.

Miguel accepted the peaceful embrace, wrapping his big hands around her shoulder blades.

"If you insist." He teased.

"Oh honestly. But seriously, thank you for dinner. It was really delicious. We'd love to stay longer but unfortunately the third member of our party begs to differ." Mj laughed pulling away from Miguel and grabbing her coat and Peters.

"I know Gabriella plays soccer, whens her next game?" Mj asked turning back around to face Miguel.

"She has a tournament tomorrow. It's a big one and she's really looking forward to it."

"Could Peter go? I may or may not be inviting him for him, but he's been saying he'd love to get to one. I'd kill to go, but I have work till 10:00pm tomorrow so I can't." Mj shrugged.

"He's more than welcome to come." Miguel's face brightened up at the idea of Peter getting to see his Gabriella play.

"Perfect! We made cupcakes the other night so I'll make sure he brings at least one for Gabriella!" Mj began to make her way for the door and Miguel followed.

"Sounds like a plan then." He said smiling.

The group said their goodbyes outside of the O'haras house and Miguel sent Gabriella inside to get ready for bed. Once she had gone, Miguel waved them off as Peter B fiddled with his watch before they left through the portal.

Tomorrow was supposed to be fun.
