Painted in hues of orange and blue, meshing with the golden rays of the emerging sun, you've awaken to the irradiant light of dawn; the real ambassador of peace and tranquility to a such a serene mind. You scanned your surroundings and discerned that you were surrounded by lucid lights, medicine pervading the small cabinets, sinks and unrecognizable machines.
You noticed Levi was sitting in a chair perched next to your bed. You sat up and noticed that he was resting his eyes, his brawny arms were crossed and his tousled black hair fell into his face, almost perfectly. Levi really did care about you, he may have said hurtful things, done hurtful things—but here he was, being the only one to sit next to you in the infirmary for who knows how long.
You admired him, adored every bit of him laying there in that chair, as your head sank into fleecy pillow, your body sinking into the velvety sheets of the snuggly bed you were carefully placed in. You weren't quite sure what had happened, your mind was still obscured, so you felt rather uneasy.
Though, you were feeling quite thirsty—almost as if you haven't had anything to drink for days. You reached for the glass of the room-temperature water neatly placed on the table located on the other side of your bed.
"Y/n... You're awake," Levi spoke, opening his eyes to the amount of noise you were making. You placed the glass back onto to the table after taking a few sips and looked over at him, muddled at the way his tone seemed solicitous, yet reassured at the same time.
"What happened? I don't really understand why I'm here," You slowly gulped, rubbing your forehead and hoping nothing horrible had happened again.
He cleared his throat, "Well. We were—uh, you know... Anyway, after it happened, you started breathing heavily and you became eerily pale. You ended up collapsing into my arms," He delineated, the softness of his mesmerizing gaze penetrated your skin; you felt your insides growing hot.
Your heart sank into your stomach, the exact second you thought about your friends. What were you going to tell them? What did Levi tell them? If he even managed to, that is. How in the world were you going to lie your way out of this one?
The last Mikasa and Armin heard from you—or even saw you per say, was when you were heading to Levi's office with a stack of paperwork in your hands and the last time everyone else had interacted with you, was that night at the campfire when you were drunk out the ass. You were already trying to avoid them with each chance you got, but now you were definitely on thin ice.
"How long have I been in here?" You queried, fidgeting your fingers with evident anxiousness—you were hoping you've only been in the infirmary for a couple of hours. Otherwise, this could stir up more inconvenience than intended.
He gave you a look of unsettlement, as he knew you were feeling well-over apprehensible and honestly, he was too.
"A couple of days, Y/n." He answered, holding onto your arm.
Your eyes flickered up at him, "A couple of days!? No, that can't be right! I was—I was just with you." You muttered, shaking your head from utter uncertainty.
"That was two days ago, but try not to worry so much. Everyone knows you're in here, they just don't know why. So, I'd expect some questions if anyone comes to visit you." He stated, running his fingers through your hair. Though, he seemed unbothered about it, as if he knew you had it under control, but you didn't.
"Easy for you to say. I hate doing this, Levi. They're my friends. How long can we even keep this up before they start putting the pieces together?" You asked, your voice slightly cracking from feeling utterly defeated—crushed.
"I don't know, Y/n. No one's forcing you to lie. You can always tell the truth, but I know you value your friendships. I just want you to do what's best for you. Don't do it for me." He suggested, slowly leaning into you. He took a minute to admire you, before lightly kissing you on the forehead.
