Your body froze, unable to move. All you could do was stand there and melt into Levi's solacing embrace. The way his rough tepid hands tightly wrapped around your waist, had your brain running in circles, though you couldn't comprehend why. You had never been touched this way before by anyone, so the feeling it was giving you was quite overwhelming.
He released himself from you, softly clearing his throat. You turned around, your face tinting with pink the exact moment you saw that he was already looking at you.
"Captain? What was that about?" You questioned, removing excess strands of hair out of your face, so that you could see his eyes more distinctly.
"Nothing. Just showing you my appreciation," He responded, blankly staring at you. You discerned that you've never really seen Levi smile nor have you ever heard him laugh. The only way you could ever see his emotions were through his hooded eyes.
Oh, those grey eyes—those midwinter eyes of his ebbed ever so gently with cement. It accentuated every feature, glistening like stars melted in platinum. Sometimes they softened, sometimes they were burning cold, sometimes they were narrowed, but that's all you could ever get out of him—aside from his sharp and insolent responses.
"Okay," You responded, recollecting yourself. You didn't know what to think, surely it was just a friendly hug between a captain and his scout, right? Why else would he hug you? He hated your guts and you hated his rightfully so.
"But," He spoke, choking up mid sentence. "If you're up for it, I wouldn't mind you bringing me cups of coffee in the morning." He added on, returning to his morning duties.
You slightly creased your eyebrows, as he left you utterly clueless. Levi was cocky, he was arrogant, and tactless—he always knew what to say and when to say it, yet you've noticed that he was oddly nervous. You saw him struggling to spew out words from his lips, how his eyebrows slightly furrowed, ruminating of what to say to you—and honestly, you were doing the same.
You became in-articulated around him from the moment his lips pressed against yours.
"Wait," You called out, "This isn't going to be an everyday thing, you know. Besides, you said that you can do it yourself, so I'll honor that for you. Why else would I come around you if you find me annoying, anyway?" You spoke, crossing your arms.
You suppressed the confusion and irritation the best way you knew how to. You never really get angry that often, but for some reason, when you're with Levi—it's a whole different story.
"Shit, I didn't mean to come off rude. I'm just not use to someone doing that for me." He stated, drinking the coffee you gave him, even after he said he wouldn't because your hands were so-called "filthy".
"Yeah? Well, you did. You're always coming off as rude and if you think a stupid hug is going to make up for that—then you're mistaken, Captain." You disputed, making your way out his room before anyone came dubious of your whereabouts.
You weren't going to allow Levi to manipulate you into thinking he appreciates you now. Sure, he wasn't an asshole today, but he'd be one tomorrow.
You made your way back to the kitchen and thankfully, no one knew you slipped away. After a couple of hours, you and everyone else finished cleaning the kitchen by noon—though, it took longer than expected because Sasha and Connie thought it was a good idea to start a food fight with the leftover food on the floor. Aside from that, it was absolutely spotless.
"Wow, well, I am impressed! You're all free to go now, but you better hurry before Levi comes in here and nitpicks at everything that isn't clean enough!" Hange suggested, creepily smiling at us.
