"You've got to be kidding," You mumbled underneath your breath. You quickly faced Levi again, giving him an 'I'm so sorry' facial expression. Your hands were beginning to feel clammy, your thoughts becoming heavily overcasted, as you struggled to breathe—a sudden stiffness in your ribs.

"What's that brat's deal?" Levi questioned you, pinching his eyebrows together. His tone denoted evident bitterness, but you didn't dig further into it. You just shrugged, disregarding his bemusing stares. You figured it wasn't the right time to tell him about the immense crush Marco had on you, so you postponed it until you figured out a way to let him down easily.

"I guess he wants to talk to me about the kiss him and I— uh, shared." You pointed out, grabbing a random stack of paperwork from Levi's desk to make yourself look as if you were being productive. Though, it was already dubious enough that you were in his office to begin with.

You walked over to the door, slowly reaching out to open it. You let out a hefty sigh, before ultimately managing to open it. You were met with those amicable auburn eyes and promptly shot him a shy, yet anxious smile.

"Hey..." He spoke, slightly lifting his eyebrows. His chestnut eyes darted between you and the door to Levi's office, it was more than apparent he was confused as to why you were even in there to begin with.

"Oh, yeah. I had to retrieve some paperwork," You looked down at the infirmary gown you were wearing, "In my gown, too." You added on, blushing profusely. You clutched the stack of paperwork in your arms, in hopes that he'd believe you without further questioning.

"Ah." He moved his head up and down, "Well... I just wanted to check up on you. Especially because of the news going around, on top of you being in the infirmary," He added on, studying your facial expression.

You shot him a nonplussed look, "I'm sorry, what news?" You queried, but he promptly cleared his throat and looked away in a trice. Your gaze burned into him desperate for an answer, but he was reluctant to speak.

"It's nothing. My apologies." He brushed it off, quickly changing the subject. "So, uh...about the campfire?" He blurted out, overly flustered. Your lips parted, words were unable to leave your tongue—the sudden statement had nearly blindsided you, leaving you with a hard lump in the back of your throat. You had to tell him Marco how you truly felt—otherwise, Mikasa would and you would much rather him hear it from you instead.

"You're referring to the kiss, aren't you?" You took a long pause, gaining the courage to look the innocent boy into his eyes. "Look, Marco. You're a great guy, but that kiss meant nothing. I was just drunk..." You spoke, cringing at how heart-wrenching that may have actually sounded.

"What?" He questioned, furrowing his eyebrows. You could tell that his heart dropped into the pit of his stomach—his face turned ghastly, his eyes broadened and you discerned that the little amount of optimism he carried in those eyes of his, diminished.

"What about the other times then? Did it mean something to you, anything!?" He asked you, his gaze burning into yours. You opened your mouth to speak, but he interrupted you—this exact moment gave you deja-vu from the moment you asked Levi the same question the day he left you in the rain, and only then you perceived what Levi did to you, you were doing to someone else. Maybe, you were becoming like him.

"Did you even like me, Y/n? Or were you just pretending the entire time?" He asked you, his tone switching gears from heartache to unforeseen lividness. He stared at you, but you looked away.

You quickly shook your head, as tears started falling down your cheeks. "I-I did like you, at first and then..." You mumbled, choking upon your words, as you thought about Levi and how easily he swooped in and stole your heart.
