Sunlight sauntered in, igniting shadows to vivid orange and yellow hues. The sunlight shining through the glass windows, burst into a scintillating cascade of colors. You squinted at the sunlight that beamed across your face. You swiftly scanned your surroundings and your breathing hitched—once you realized you were still in Levi's office. You looked over at Levi, the bags underneath his eyes were purple and prominent—it was more than evident he didn't get any sleep. He was casually sitting at his desk, reading the newspaper as if you weren't present.
You focused your gaze at the rest of the books you didn't organize and immediately became apprehensive.
"Captain?" You called out, sitting up from the couch.
"Hmm?" He hummed, lowly. Slightly lowering the newspaper he was reading, so he could see you more distinctly.
"I'm really sorry for passing out like that—I really didn't mean to. If you'd like me to finish organizing those books, I'll gladly do so." You suggested, giving him a trepidatious smile. He just blankly stared at you with a stare that had no warmth—like he was already riled at the fact you were speaking to him.
"Don't worry about the books." He replied flatly, focusing his gaze back to the newspaper. You sighed and got up from the couch. You grudgingly walked towards the door to leave, yet when you reached for the door knob, you found yourself not wanting to leave just yet.
"Did you sleep okay? Or at all?" You mumbled, swiftly cursing yourself out in your head, as you recollected that Levi was such an insomniac—a walking zombie at this point.
He scoffed, "Didn't I tell you that I don't sleep?" He questioned, piqued over the fact that you were still in his presence.
"Uh—yeah, um. Would you like me to bring you some coffee then? For letting me—well, technically not letting me sleep here, I guess it was more so you being nice? I don't know, I guess I want to repay you back." You spewed out, flustered and absentmindedly rambling on and on.
"Are you done?" He queried, slamming the newspaper onto his desk. His irascible eyes tells you that his brain is in a different mode—that he has switched gears from what you thought was selflessness yesterday, to cold emotional indifference.
"Yeah," You responded, shyly avoiding his glare towards you.
"Then go get ready. You look a mess." He snapped, scrunching his face at the sight of you. You reached up for your hair and discerned how frizzy and tousled it was. You looked down at your nightgown, which barely fell past your lower thighs—it was undoubtedly disheveled.
You frowned, "That's not a nice thing to say!" You voiced, crossing your arms.
"Well what can I say? I'm not a nice person. You can get the hell out of my room now—I like my peace and quiet, I don't like listening to obnoxious whining." He asserted, pointing his head towards the direction of the door.
You made your way out of his room and walked towards your room. You gathered your uniform and headed towards the showers. Turning the knob all the way to the left and waiting for the water to heat up, you undressed and stepped in and immediately felt your body decompressing. Though the hot water only lasted about 5 minutes, it was the most relaxing part of your day.
You lathered your towel with soap and gently washed your body, while the hot water pressed against your skin. You hopped out and put on your uniform, as you felt you shouldn't hog the bathroom a while longer. The temperature difference in the air from walking out of a steamy bathroom, felt sensational.
"Oh my god! There you are, Y/n!" Mikasa smiled, practically running up to you—the rest of your friends trailed behind her.
"Hey, Mikasa." You gave her a smile back, blushing profusely.
