You could barely sleep last night, as the inevitable thoughts of Levi were infinitely running around in your head. Sitting at the mess hall table, you were feeling quite disoriented, as all of your friends and everyone around you were silently chatting amongst themselves. You were glad to see your friends more than anything, but you didn't want to see Levi.
The kiss you shared with him felt amazing, but you didn't see him in that way—at least you thought so. To you, he was nothing, but a superior who was ill-mannered and continuously over-stepped boundaries and you wanted nothing more than to eschew him.
But what was his game? Levi hadn't shown any affection towards you for years and the only way he'd ever speak to you was if he were degrading you. For all that you've known the man—he was always shallow, insulated, and impudent.
You even recollected all of the times Levi had made you cry and made you feel embitter without a care in the world. He's watched you cry in front of him countless of times—yet he only denigrated you even more.
He was never nice to you—he may have always been lenient, but it only made him loathe you even more for having to do so. Confusion and animus swiftly clouded your entire mind. How could he kiss you after treating you like scum all of these years?
"How's your leg holding up?" Mikasa questioned, smiling and hovering over you. You and Mikasa were the closest to each other out of every scout—the two of you did everything together and you loved her dearly.
"I guess it's not as bad as being on punishment," You nervously grinned, strictly focusing your gaze at the soup that were in front of you. You were starting to enjoy the fact that you were on punishment, as it was your scapegoat to avoiding Levi.
You already felt timorous and intimidated whenever you were in his presence, but now you could only ever feel ashamed. What would your friends think of you if they found out you kissed Levi?
"Perhaps you should talk to Levi privately in his office and plead your case." Connie suggested, shoving bread into his mouth.
You shook your head, "N-no. I don't think that's a good idea," You replied, shyly. You didn't even want to speak to him, let alone be in an isolated room with him.
"Training isn't the same without you!" Mikasa blurted out, sighing at the fact that you declined Connie's suggestion.
"He's never going to let you off punishment if you don't stand up to him." Ymir intervened, holding Historia in her lap.
Marco side-hugged you, "As much as we all really want you back on the fields with us, you should talk to Levi whenever you're comfortable." Marco suggested, smiling at you.
You nodded and gave Marco a warm smile. You adored how sweet Marco was to you, though he always got teased for it. Shortly after you had finished your tray of food, you discerned that Erwin, Hange and Levi walked into the mess hall.
Your breathing hitched and your cheeks tinted with pink. It almost felt as if time were frozen whenever he managed to walk past you. You looked away, avoiding any possible contact with him. Even being in the same room with him made you feel utterly discomfited. You wanted to excuse yourself without everyone trying to pry, as it was your first time leaving mess hall early.
"You okay, Y/n?" Jean queried, noticing how frantic and edgy you became all of a sudden.
You cleared your throat—slightly choking up on your words, "Oh—Uh, Yeah. I think I'm going to head back to my room now. Hopefully, I'll see you guys later." You chuckled, placing the tray on table and wheeling yourself down the hallway.
