Chapter 6
I couldn't sleep that night. I really wanted to, but my thoughts and flashbacks kept me awake where I was lying. My eyes were closed, and I was facing the wall. I kept looking back at when John left me for Lis.
If I listened carefully, I could hear him moving behind my back, trying not to wake me up. I knew he'd be going out again, and there was no doubt he was seeing Lis - again.
"Where are you going?" I said and rolled over.
"It doesn't matter, go back to sleep."
"But I wanna know."
"Don't worry, okay. I'll be back when you wake up."
I knew I shouldn't follow him, 'cause I knew Lis would see me. However, I might find out what John was hiding, and I couldn't sleep anyway. I might find out why Lis was more important than me. Besides, John wouldn't get angry at me, right?
As I heard the door, I jumped out of my bed to get dressed. Black skinny jeans, white T-shirt and a denim jacket. Then I went downstairs, pulled my shoes on, and left the house unnoticed.
It looked like John were heading towards the woods, which our mum had told us a million times to stay away from. But John never did anything bad, this wasn't like him!
I swallowed hard as I passed the first trees. So this was it. The woods we'd been avoiding all our lives. It didn't look as scary as I imagined.
As I walked, I could see a weak light, far, far away from me. If I listened carefully, I could hear laughter, and loud talking. I wasn't sure what to expect.
Everything was pitch dark, with only that glimt of a light to see. I could barely hear John's footsteps.
The voices got louder as I walked. Some shadows came to sight. I had to admit, it turned really creepy after a while.
I could finally see them. There were seven people sitting around a campfire. John and Lis were two of them. There were also three small cabins. It was just like a camp.
"We're so glad to have John with us, no one will expect a thing!" one of them, a woman, said out loud and giggled.
"Yeah..." John responded with a weak, fake smile. He seemed to be very shy around those people.
"The plan isn't done yet, though." one of the men said. "let's continue, shall we?". The others agreed on the man's idea, and started moving up to one of the cabins. "You two kiddo's can just stay here."
It was quiet for the next few seconds. John was staring at the campfire while biting his lip.
"I'm confused," he said.
Lis turned to him, and a weak smile appeared on her red lips.
"Don't be.. You'll get used to it," she said and shook her head. "Just don't tell Edward..."
As she said that, I remembered what would happen next. It was too late to do anything now. I was busted by Lis.
John's head turned to me, and all of a sudden, his face expression was worried and shocked.
The next thing that happened, were one of the last things I'd expect. Lis literally disappeared, and she were nowhere to be seen. John noticed, though. He turned his head back to where Lis WAS sitting, then back to me again.
"Edward, RUN!" he shouted, but before I even got the chance to think, I was knocked over by nothing.
I crawled backwards, having no idea what was going on. That was until the girl from my dreams popped up right in front of my face. Literally. This was the girl I'd been seeing. Lis with black hair and red eyes.
