Chapter 18
"Well," Lis started as we looked at each other. "It turns out love is the solution."
"Okay, what are you on about," Leah said.
"Eddy here gave me a kiss and the next moment I felt all normal. It sort of makes sense, though.. I mean, love and evil is kinda the opposite, isn't it?" Everyone looked at each other. "Love is the strongest power a person can have... It's stronger than any magic."
"So... What do we do?"
"John's magic is the strongest... If we can cure him then maybe the darkness will retreat, and we will break the curse. Oh, and one more thing, his boosted magic causes him to transform way faster than normal. It took me at least two months to reach the stage he's at!"
"What does that have to do with anything?"
"Well..." Lis' face expression told me that this boosted transformation had a negative twist. "When the transformation is complete, the wizard loses the ability to love." Told ya..
"Alright, no time to lose then," I said, and didn't get the chance to continue...
"Wait, wait, wait, hold on," Alexander said in his french accent. "So you mean you're gonna stay here and attempt to break the curse instead of going home and live your safe lives?"
"John is my brother and I'm not going home without him," I said.
"And I'm with him," Lis said. "I know what those wizards are going through and believe me, it's torture to live with it."
"We can do it," Leah added. "With or without your help." Phil and Alexander looked at each other.
"But... Do you even have a plan? Sure, love solves it, but who has the love to give?" Oh right, I didn't really think of that...
"Actually..." Ross said and pulled a teasing grin at Leah. Everyone turned to look at her, and she looked around with wide eyes, blushing.
"Well this is awkward," she said with a nervous smile.
"Don't worry, though, he likes you too - That's what I didn't wanna tell you, Edward. I thought it was too personal to tell, but now it's important information."
"Ew," Leah's roomate whispered and raised an eyebrow. Leah didn't really mind, she just rolled her eyes.
I rushed through my thoughts as I felt the puzzle making sense. I asked myself why John hadn't told me about his little crush, but the next moment I remembered what he had become. It was still hard to believe that part...
"So, what do you say?" Lis asked. The four boys nodded, Phil and Alexander more insecure, and left the attention to Leah's roommate.
"Sienna...?" Leah said and everyone looked at the remaining girl.
"Ugh, fine," she said and rolled her eyes. "But you owe me."

My surroundings were pretty dark and quiet. I was still out in the woods with the others, who were asleep. I looked around in the dark, searching for the source of my awakening.
There it was; foosteps. Many of them. I shook Lis and Leah to wake them up.
"What is it," Lis asked in a yawn.
"Someone's here."
Another noise was heard, and I opened my eyes. I must had fallen asleep, something that doesn't lead to any good nowadays.
I looked around and listened carefully. Footsteps. I felt my heart jump and reached out to wake up Leah and Lis. I'd gotten used to my future dreaming by now, and didn't bother reminding myself that I'd dreamt it.
"What is it," Lis asked in a yawn.
"Someone's here."
Leah burst into action, and reached out to wake up Sienna and the boys. I held my breath and didn't move an inch while trying to hear the footsteps. They were close. My heart raced faster than ever and I felt warm liquid growing on my forehead. I was scared - scared of death - but I did my best not to show it. I had to be brave. Normally it was John, the older twin, who was the big, brave hero. I used to be the one getting us in trouble, and he always somehow got us out of it. Man, how I miss those days.
But now it was my turn. I was the one saving the other's butt. The tables had turned.
And with those thoughts in my head, I rushed out from underneath the bruce and showed myself, regretting it the next second. There he was, with pitch black hair and eyes that should only belong to the devil, my dear brother John.
Just as I made eye contact with him, a quick plan came across my mind. I could lead them away from the others, and maybe, just maybe, it would give them easier access to a battle plan.
My heart dropped, and the next moment I was running. I heard the dark wizards running after me, but they didn't use their magic. I didn't count, but they were definitely more than ten. They had grouped up now.
I ran for my life, so fast I thought my feet would fall off. Even when I ran out of breath and could taste blood, I continued, because I knew that if I stopped now, I would get killed instantly. It felt as if my heart was about to explode. My pulse was running away from me. It could be the death of me, but if I stopped, John and his co-wizards would be the death of me.
So, what did I do? Well, me and my improvising brain left the focus to a random tree. What I did was climbing up, as high as possible, as fast as my body could handle. I tried holding my breath, but I couldn't. I could hear them walking around, knowing I was nearby.
"They're around here somewhere," one of them said. "FIND THEM!" My whole body froze. If they saw me, I wouldn't be able to escape in time. It annoyed me how I always somehow got myself into trouble. Me and my curiousity. It seemed like I was their main target, but why? Because I was John's twin? Well newsflash; John was our main target too.
I stared down at the ground, breathing heavily. My hands were shaking. I could see them walking around searching for me. One tiny mistake would cost me my life at this point.
"Hey breadheads!" I heard a female voice shout, and the dark wizards turned their heads. "Remember me?!"
That was the signal I needed. There was a sudden boost of confidence inside of me, and it filled me with courage. I pulled a little smile before jumping down from the tree, landing on my feet. I saw the others; Leah, Lis, Ross, Sienna, Alexander, Josh and Phil. Phil gave me a short nod, and that was when I knew the battle was about to begin.
Showtime.
