Chapter 4

We were in a huge room with loads of other people. There stood a target about 20 feet from every single person. Everyone was quiet, and paid attention to that one lady explaining something.

"Use your imagination to make an energy ball," she said.

For some that might be their first time to make one of those. Luckily for me, I knew exactly how to do it.

I stared at my hands as the light from an energy ball appeared.

"Good, now throw it at the target."

"What!" people shouted. I'd never hit that target. I'd hit the lady instead.

I gave it a try, though. I simply just thew the ball towards the target, and I failed. I didn't have control over the ball at all, and as I threw it, I fell backwards.

I did realise that I fell to the floor, but I didn't realise that I fell over some girl. She had dark brown hair, almost black, and deep blue eyes and a sidefringe..

Hey, wait a minute, wasn't that the girl from the dream yesterday?

She started laughing at me, then she got up.

"Sorry," I said embarrassed.

"Oh, that's okay.. I can't hit the target either.." she smiled and helped me up from the floor. "I'm Leah!"

Suddenly I heard a bang, and my eyes shut open. I met the face of an angry teacher, and heard laughing around me.

"Pay attention, Grimes," the teacher said and turned around.

I'd fallen asleep in class, something I thought I'd never do..

Leah, huh? So that means I'll meet a wizard with name Leah? Okay, good to know, I guess..

Finally, the bell rang. We packed our stuff and went to lunch. The lunch lady had her joy killing glare as usual. We got meatballs and brown sausage on our plates, then we settled down with a table.

"I had a dream.." I said and looked at John.

"What was it about?"

"Did I mention that I'm a future dreamer? Well we're gonna meet some girl called Leah.."

"Oh cool! I wonder what I am..". He looked around thinking. "What else happened?"

"Well.. Not much, we were in a room practicing our magic.."

The next thing we heard, was a short, vibrating noise, and we looked down at John's phone lying on the table. He picked it up, unlocked it, and stared at the screen. I didn't take my eyes off him. Were he texting with someone?

"I'll be right back," he said, then rose from the table.

"Wait, hold on, where are you going? I don't wanna sit here all alone!"

"Don't worry okay, I'll be right back.."

I watched him walk away as I sat there for myself. Did he just get a text from someone? Did he just leave me because of that text?

I got up and left the table. I could feel the need to find out where he was going. I couldn't help the feeling that he was hiding something from me. I had to prove myself wrong. He would never hide anything from me.

I saw him through the huge window by the lockers on 2nd floor. He was outside, talking to some girl. I couldn't see her clear because of the distance, but it was a girl for sure, and it was obviously John she was talking to.

It almost looked like he'd got a secret girlfriend.

They didn't talk for that long. After about 30 seconds, the girl turned and left, and John did the same in the opposite direction.

I was asking myself if I should go back to our table and pretend like nothing, but I knew that would be wrong.

John soon appeared in the stairs between 1st and 2nd floor, and it was first then he noticed me.

"Who's the girl?" I asked, and he took a short look around.

"Just someone I met," he shrugged.

"Tell me about her, what's her name? How did you meet? Is she your girlfriend?". It made me really excited that John was seeing a girl, especially when I didn't know who it was. Wow, he must really like this girl!

"It's just a friend, Edward, it doesn't matter," he laughed.

We stared at each other for a short while. The light made his hair look darker, and he shot a weak smile at me.

"So... You're not gonna tell me her name?" I asked carefully, and he looked around again.

"It's Lis..."

After those very short words, he went back to the canteen to eat his lunch.

There was seriously something weird going on. If this Lis was his girlfriend it would explain why he'd been acting so weird lately, but he wouldn't hide her from me.

He said she was just a friend, and I had to believe him, but how come I'd never met her before?

Maybe he's planning a surprise for our birthday? That had to be it. Lis was probably a part of it.

I took a deep breath and went back into the canteen where John was sitting all alone.

I shouldn't worry. I knew John had everything under control, just as usual.
