Chapter 3

It was so weird. I could see planets on the sky, and the moon lit up the whole place. It was like another world.

There was three people standing in front of me. They were all smiling at me, but in different ways.

The first person was a girl with dark brown hair, a sidefringe, and deep blue eyes. Her smile was friendly, as if she was glad to see me.

The second person was also a girl. Her hair was long and black, and her eyes were actually deep red, almost like blood. She smiled as if she were in a daydream, and seemed very lost.

I could barely regonize the third person. It was John, but he was so different! His eyes weren't a mix of brown and green like they used to be, they were deep red, and scary. His hair wasn't dyed blond and pulled up in a quiff, it was all black, and covered most of his eyes. His smile scared me. It was ice cold.

We just stood there, staring at each other, for a long time.

Then suddenly, it was like everything switched to another scene, with only me and John. This time, normal John, not the scary one.

"You won't tell on me, right?" he said.

"No, but we can't control these powers.. I think we should talk to mum and dad about them.."

My eyes shot open, and I settled up. What a weird dream!

It was 4:17 AM. September 4th 2009. The room was really hot from the late summerheat.

There was something missing. Something I'd heard every time I woke up from my sleep. The sound that told me John was okay. The sound of John's breathing. I couldn't hear it.

I turned my head to see that it was just as I feared. John's bed were empty.

I got up with a yawn, and pulled my pants on. My plan was to go downstairs to see if he was there, but I changed my mind when I looked out the window.

I could see smoke. Thick, black smoke, covering the moonlight. I could see flames. Big flames, burning the old little house near the woods.

There was one name stuck in my head as I saw that; John.

I quickly grabbed a sweather and pulled it on before I sprinted downstairs. I ran outside and towards the burning house, hoping that John had nothing to do with it.

However, my hopes were worthless. Right in front of the burning house, stood John. He was just staring at all the flames, emotionless.

"John!" I shouted. "What the hell are you doing?!" I stopped right next to him and stared at the burning house. "Did you do this?"

"Y-Yeah," he replied.

"Why would you burn down a house?"

"I.. I don't know, I was just gonna test my powers, I thought I'd be able to put out the flames.." he seemed terrefied of what he'd done, and I swear I saw a tear in the corner of his eye. "Maybe you can put them out!"

"I don't know how to! All I know is that I can make those balls of light!"

We were cut off by sirens and flashing lights. It was a firetruck.

"Edward, we gotta hide!" John said and pulled me with him.

Hide? It felt like we were some criminals running from the cops!

It looked like we were heading back home, but when we was half way, he stopped and turned to me.

"You won't tell on me, right?" he said.

I had some weird feeling I'd heard that before. It was like deja vu.

John was my twin, my best friend, and I knew him better than anyone. I knew he wouldn't hurt a fly, and he would never ever do this on purpose.

"No," I replied and shook my head. "but we can't control these powers.. I think we should talk to mum and dad about them.."

As I said that, I realised where I'd seen this before. It was in my dream.

"Okay.. We tell them tomorrow.." John added, and he continued walking.

When we finally got back home, we went straight up to our bedroom. I threw off my sweather and pants, then got comfortable in my bed.

So much had happened in less than a day. We discovered some supernatural powers, I had a weird dream, and then it happened. My dream actually happened for real. Maybe that's another part of this supernatural things? It had to be. This couldn't be a coincidence.

"Night, Edward," I heard John whisper, probably half asleep already.

"Night, John," I whispered back, then smiled for myself.

I let my thoughts float around in my head, and before I even knew it, I fell asleep.

"John! Edward! You'll be late for school!" mum shouted from downstairs. That was what woke me up.

I got up and pulled my clothes on. Friday. I loved this day. The start of the weekend and end of the school. It's like the start of a short holiday.

"Are you ready to tell them?" John asked.

I'd almost forgot. We were actually gonna tell mum and dad, and maybe Kevin, about our powers.

"Yeah," I nodded. "Let's go."

Mum, dad and Kevin sat with the table and ate breakfast, just as I thought.

"You're late," mum said.

"Yeah, we know," I commented. "But there's something we gotta talk to you about.."

All three of them looked up at us, and it was quiet for just a few seconds.

"Ohmygod, you discovered your powers, didn't you?" Kevin almost shouted. "That was about time, I've been doing magic for four years!". All of a sudden he had a ball of light in his hands, just like the one I made the day before.

"Oh thank goodness," mum added. "I thought we'd have to wait another year."

"What are you talking about," I cut off. "And Kevin, how did you know this?"

"Well, take a seat, this is gonna take a while," mum started, and we did as she told us. "You aren't like the others on your school. You two, I, and Kevin, are wizards.". That was exactly what I wanted to hear. Me and John looked at each other and smiled before mum continued. "There's not that many left, though. Just about 100 families in the world. Every wizard has a personal ability. Read minds, dream the future, teleport, heal, and much more.". Dream the future. That had to be my ability.

"Ohmygod, Edward, we're wizards!" John added and smiled excited at me.

"Kevin is a mind reader and I'm a teleporter."

"Right now, you're both thinking OHMYGOD, THIS IS SOO COOL!" Kevin interrupted. Yup, he defenitly can read minds. "Oh, and by the way Edward, it's called energy balls, not balls of light.."

"Are we like going to hogwarts now?" I added, and John laughed a little.

"No," mum continued. "However, there is a place you'll have to go to... I'll take you there soon, but today, you'll have to go to school.. And hurry up now, you'll be late!"

We ate our breakfast on record time. I couldn't stop thinking about this place we were going to. This was going to be an amazing adventure.
