Chapter 11

Class was over, and I was going to talk to John. Yes, I was a little nervous after what I realised earlier, but he was my brother - he had never hurt me before, and a big part of me believed he wouldn't start now.

I entered our room, where John was still laying in his bed. He was facing the wall, and the first thing I noticed with him was his almost black hair. Only a few blonde locks were left. After a deep breath, I walked over to him.

"John?" I said carefully and laid my hand on his shoulder. I felt my heart beating faster as I recognized the moment. Another dream.

He reacted to his name, and in something that looked like his half-sleep, he rolled over to face me. He opened his eyes and looked up at me, and even though it was expected, the colour made my heart jump. They were brown, with a little mix of red.

"What?" John responded. I took another deep breath.

"I wanna know what's going on."

"I don't know what you're talking about," he said, emotionless.

"Yes you do, I know something is wrong! We're best friends, John, you can tell me anything, you know that!"

"It doesn't look like we are, you have replaced me with Leah. You're with her 24/7 and don't even bother asking me to join. If I didn't know better I'd think you loved her."

"No, no, no, no, no, I can't replace you with someone else... And no, I do not love her..."

"I know that - you love her twin sister." John stood up with his back against me. He knew she was twins with Lis? I found myself not denying anything. I could feel my face grow red and my heart beating faster. John clenched his fists. "Just get out... Before I hurt you.". I was full aware of the threat John just had given me, but there was still a part of me that knew he wouldn't. I kept reminding myself of the fact that he was my brother.

"I know you won't do that," I said seriously. He clenched his fists just a little more.

"You have no idea what I'm able to do to you.". The words he'd just said was what made me doubt his limits. His body language made him look really angry, as if he was just about to punch me, and for the first time of my life, I was actually scared of my twin brother.

I thought to myself, 'this can't be happening', and I left the room. I had to talk to Leah.

I walked pretty fast along the girls' corridor, until I got to room 2.

"Leah!" I almost yelled as I knocked the door. It was the same girl as earlier today, Rita, who opened the door.

"Leah isn't here right now," she said.

"Where is she? It's important."

"Eh, I think she went to the hall to practice her magic or whatever..."

"Thanks," I said kind of quiet, before I went off to the hall.

I found myself running, thinking of the fact that I was about to lose my best friend for life. The guy that always made me laugh in the toughest situations, and the guy who also kept me strong against bullying. My twin, John.

The worst part was how the whole situation seemed to become worse over time. Four days ago he was John - now he was... Not the John I had grown up with. I didn't even want to know what he would end up like.

The first thing I saw when I entered the hall, was Leah. She was practicing her energy ball shots, and stood with an energy ball in her hands as I walked in.

"Oh, hi Edward," she said and shot the energy ball towards a target. It hit perfectly. "Aw that was terrible!"

"No, how was it terrible?"

"I was aiming at that target," she said and pointed two targets to the left to the one she hit. It made me smile, more than I'd done in days. "So, how was the talk with John?"

"Well, I think we're one step closer to know what is going on," I said, thinking about how to explain the conversation with few words. "He wants to hurt me, I think... Like, he told me to get out before he would hurt me... And it's possible that he feels replaced by you."

"Oh wow, um... Okay, he might not want to hurt only you, it could be everyone else as well, and I never meant to replace him, like, c'mon he can join whenever he want to, I don't wanna split you!"

"You're not, okay. He is always sleeping anyway."

"So what are you gonna do?"

"I will stay awake follow John - tonight."

Many hours later, at night-time, I was forcing my eyes to stay open so I could see what John was up to. I didn't hear anything but snoring before 3:30 AM. I was facing John's bed, so I could just carefully open my eyes to see what he was doing.

He settled up in his bed and turned to me, and I shut my eyes again right away, so he wouldn't notice me being awake.

"Edward," he whispered - probably to check if I was asleep or not.

I didn't respond in any way, I just laid there, pretending to be sleeping.

As I heard him get out of bed, I opened my eyes again. He already had his skinny jeans on, so he just threw on a red sweater and pulled on a pair of Jeremy Scott shoes really quickly before he left the room.

I got up in a hurry, but did not make a noise. I had to be quick, or else I wouldn't see where John went. Random skinny jeans, random T-shirt and random shoes. When I was done I realised I was wearing red skinny jeans, the superman T-shirt from earlier and teddybear shoes.

It didn't matter what I was wearing - I had to follow John.

I successfully sneaked outside the school un-noticed, and luckily, I could still see John. He was heading towards the woods - which he also did back home... But there was people in the woods back home, so what was he doing now?

I only just realised that the portal was in the woods. I was not quite sure if it was a good thing that John knew about it.

Everything was so dark - I could barely even see John. The only light I could see, was inside the woods. I was pretty sure that was the portal.

I could feel a massive headache coming in, and understood immediately that I was about to have another vision. It was, however, not as bad as the earlier visions, where I fell to the ground because of the headache. I guess I was getting used to it, and this time, I remained standing.

I saw the woods, the portal, and the dark night. It was exactly where I was standing in reality.

Without any warning, I felt a burning pain in my ribs, and I fell to the ground - face down. It took me seconds to realise that I was shot by nothing else than a fireball. I quickly brushed away the small flames with my bare hand, and was left with a big hole in my superman T-shirt and burnt skin.

I struggled to turn around because of the pain in my ribs, and it did not take long for me to understand I probably had broken some.

I was just about to roll over on my back as the vision ended. I stood there, right with the woods, knowing someone was about to hurt me.

I to get away before--

There it was. The burning pain in my ribs that made me fall over, and the little flames ruining my superman T-shirt. I was too late.

I brushed away the flames and rolled over on my back, trying to be quicker than in the vision.

A man stood there, smiling at me. I was sure I had seen him somewhere else before... The woods back home... He was one of the people sitting there with John and Lis!

"I'll tell your brother you said goodbye," he said in a cold voice and raised his right hand towards me. If I only knew how to make a shield...

I thought to myself, 'this is it', and a big amount of flames were shot from his palm. They came closer way too fast... My defenite death was about to hit me and surround me with pain.

I shut my eyes tight, preparing for what was about to happen.

The pain was almost over...
