In the Shadows (Mattheo Riddle)

I heard the birds chirping out of my window, and for the first time, in a long time, I was happy to wake up.

That happiness quickly came to a halt, when I reached my arm out and felt no one next to me. I found a note in his place.

"Couldn't risk our secret, I stayed as long as I could. Meet me tonight, at the top of the tower. I love you, Amelia"

I put the note to my chest, and sighed with relief. It was good to know we woke up on the same page.

Oh fuck, im in my room, and if my suspicions are correct I'm going to open my eyes to a very confused Pansy. I slowly opened one eye. Fuck yes, very correct.

"Care to explain to me why you're naked?" Her tone, very concerned.

" I was- I uh" I stumbled over my words. "I was very drunk and very hot and couldn't find my pajamas, mom" I tried so desperately to turn this into a joke.

"yeah sure, yup and the marks on your back?" She was seeing right through me, fuck.

"I tripped going to the toilet" I tried to look embarrassed, which wasn't hard to do in my current state. "Now if you could please hand me some clothes, I would love to go get a muffin" I smirked at her.

"You are quiet the little sneak ms malfoy, but if you don't wish to spill, I let it go on account of my throbbing head" she muttered, tossing me my sweats.

I just wanted to get downstairs already. I wondered if he was already up, waiting with the boys for us. I just wanted to see his face. Make sure he still felt the same. Even though we couldn't exchange words just yet, he was very good at his looks.

"Jesus malfoy slow down! I'm going to break an ankle!" Pansy screamed trying to catch up to me.

"can't! Really need that muffin!" I laughed.

And just as we turned the corner, his face was the first one I seen. Suddenly, I could breathe again. He looked up from his book, and gave me the biggest smile he possibly could, all I wanted to do was run over and jump on him and kiss him. But I also, didn't feel like dying today. So instead I greeted the lot of them with a very big "good morning!"

"merlin you look quite put together for someone who drank their body weight!" Theo laughed at me.

"Actually she was quite a mess this morning you should've seen her!" Pansy exclaimed, quickly shot down but a quick step to the foot.

Mattheo let out a little chuckle. He knew damn well what the mess was all about.

Breakfast was painful, all I wanted to do was talk to him. But I took advantage of this time to admire him. He had so many scars on his face, I wanted to know their stories. I wanted to know his stories. His childhood, his fucking favorite color. I wanted to know everything there was to know about him.

I couldn't take the silence anymore.

"Riddle, do you happen to have the potions assignment that I missed last week? I figured I have to do it for you all" I shot a look at him.

It looked as if Theo went to answer before him, but he screamed "yeah I think I do malfoy" before he even had the chance.

"Great, do you think I could get that from you? If your not busy right now?" I said very monotone, so no one would expect anything.

"erm, yeah I suppose so" he questioned back.

We both stood up and left the table, before anyone had the chance to question why I asked him of all people.

We ran like little kids back to the common room, that was now completely empty with everyone at breakfast.

The second we turned into the common room he swept me off my feet, swinging me in circles, our laughter filled the very empty room.

He greeted me with a sweet kiss.

There it was, that smile again. I could look at that forever.

"i really didn't like waking up alone" I threw puppy dog eyes at him

"You think I like leaving you? But we both know I couldn't have stayed." He sounded regretful.

"I know but, ugh this is going to be hard" I threw my hands over my face.

"yes it will be, but its worth it Amelia, plus if Theo finds a girl tonight, ill have the room to my self until morning. You could stay by me until at least sunrise" he smiled.

"then I will make it my mission to find Theo a girl" and it was my mission. I needed him to be gone. I needed to see what it felt like to sleep next to him now, to be alone, just us two. to spend actual time together. I needed him, in more ways than one.
