"I swear he hates me," Dew grumbled as he sat next to Johnny.
Johnny chuckled, "he doesn't hate you, you are marrying his daughter he has to be like this."
"He's not like that with Won," Dew pouted at the two that were in the kitchen shoulder to shoulder as they made food.
"Won is just as in love with Appa as Eomma is. It's sorta weird, honestly. I'm fairly sure if Won was Army, Jin would be his bias."
Dew looked at Johnny like he was crazy, but every time he tried to get closer to his soon-to-be father-in-law, he got the cold shoulder. It didn't used to be like that. The older man used to help him all the time when he was still a trainee and even when he debuted. But then, when Julie announced that they were getting married, suddenly he was enemy #1, and he hated it.
"Stop frowning," Eric chuckled, "and don't glare at my Dad like he ran over your cat, or are you glaring at Won because he's besties with my Dad, and you aren't?"
Dew's entire body deflated a bit. "I don't know. He was always so nice. Like he used to come to the building and feed us, and he'd crack these funny jokes, and then he found out about us, and then he just hated me."
Eric patted Dew on the shoulder a bit, "Oh, he was like that at first, but Won so did not let that phase him. He was an absolute puppy, and followed him around like the sun showed out of his ass, and finally, after a while, Dad just gave up. It's hard to tell an adorable puppy no."
Dew sat up a bit. He can do that; he can be annoying and clingy. That's how he got Julie's attention, after all. He fell in love with her the first day he saw her, and he just made sure that he was always in her line of sight. He brought her snacks and drinks and was nice and funny. Things just naturally escalated from there.
He never dreamed that one day she'd be wearing his ring and they'd be getting married. Technically, it was because their company gave them an ultimatum that they would either get married or break up. He'll never forget that moment when he thought for a second that they'd break up. He really thought that she'd rather let him go than get married.
But she stood up in front of their CEO, managers, and a ton of board members and said that he was her man and she couldn't live without him and that she was going to marry the fuck out of him whether they liked it or not. It took Dew about two seconds before he stood up next to her and said the exact same thing in solidarity.
He really thought that would earn him some points with Jin, but it did, in fact, not. It earned him silence and annoyance from his favorite ex-idol. "I'm going to go over there," he was determined he could make Jin like him again. He did once upon a time; he'd do it again.
"Go get 'em," Eric cheered quietly.
"Dad is going to eat him alive," Johnny whispered as soon as Dew was out of hearing range.
"I know," Eric snorted. "It's going to be so much fun to see. Better than any drama on TV right now."
"Isn't he like one of your best friends?"
"I mean, yeah, but he still started dating my sister behind my back, and then he's marrying her. So, like, he deserves this a little."
Johnny shrugged, "Fair enough." Johnny was the true definition of a middle child—chill and easy, just going with the flow at all times. It took a lot to get him riled up. Eric was the youngest in the family and part of the triplets from Jin, so drama llamas to the extreme.
They watched as Dew made his way over, and they watched as Jin jerked a bit when he realized that Dew was close. They giggled together when Jin turned his back on him, and Won looked on in confusion. They snorted when Won tried his hardest to include Dew in the conversation, even when Jin was clearly not letting it happen. They fell into each other when Won smacked Jin and then immediately bowed and apologized.
"Why are you two laughing so hard?"
They both looked up to see Hobi, "nothing," they said unanimously.
He raised his eyebrow a bit. "Yeah, because that doesn't sound suspicious at all." He crossed his arms over his chest, going into what their dads call his scary dance teacher mode. "Spill, now."
Eric being the youngest was the first to spill, he might be Jin's but he's still the baby of the family and therefore the most sensitive in a way. But it also means that the little shit can and will get away with murder. So, he uses that to his advantage. He pouted, "So you know how Dad is being super duper mean to Dew, and it's totally not fair at all because he's my bestest friend in the entire world and the greatest fiance ever to Julie and."
"Cut to the chase; you can't cute yourself out of this one, Eric," Hobi interrupted, making Johnny snort so loudly that he had to smack a hand over his mouth to try to cover it up.
"Fine, Dad is being a dick, and we might have thrown Dew to the wolves for nothing more than our own sheer entertainment."
Hobi waited for a beat before he bent over laughing; out of all the things he expected them to say, he must admit that was at the bottom of the fucking list. These kids, even though they are all adults, that was the last damn thing he expected to come out of their mouths. "I'm not even sure what to say about that. Like, I think I should reprimand you, but you are all adults, and it's fucking hilarious if I'm being honest."
Eric patted the spot next to him, "Come watch. Dad is being such a brat, and Won is so confused why he won't even look at Dew. It's so petty, and I love it."
