"And they won?"
Scout looked down at her daughter, her little Ana-Noelle. "They did. Uncle Johnny and his husband fought the whole country so that they could get married."
"And Aunt Luna, oh, and Uncle Eric."
"Yup, you are right; all three of them were able to marry the people they loved most in the world because Uncle Johnny was the best pirate in the land." Scout closed the book, which was the one that Nami wrote and that JJ illustrated.
Each one of the ten kids made stories about their lives to read to their children and grandchildren when they had them. So far, Scout was the only one who had given any of them grandchildren.
But these were the stories she grew up on. Johnny's pirate adventures always made her laugh when she was older because he was actually a lawyer. How Luna cured the world of deadly ailments, and Trey and Jesse made clothes worn on every continent. How Julie, Sara, and Eric used their stardom to make significant changes in the world.
She'll never forget the Christmas that her mother got the book from Nami and JJ, she cried so hard then laughed when she opened Julie's first and the very first story was about how Lia went into labor right when Dew and Julie said I do.
"Can you tell me another one?"
"I've already read you five. Which one do you want now?"
"My favorite," Ana-Noelle whispered.
"Once upon a time, there was a brave knight; his name was Noah. He was the bravest man in the entire country, and the seven Kings begged him to come slay the dragon and save everyone's lives. At first, he didn't want to because he wanted to stay home with his love, who was carrying his child. But he knew that in order for her to be safe, he had to do this."
Scout looked up at the picture that used to hang on her bedroom wall and, before that, her mother's; it was Ami holding Noah's flag.
"He agreed with the Kings and said he would slay the dragon, but only if they promised to care for his wife and child. You see, Noah knew that he wouldn't survive the dragon. He could slay it, but it would cost him his life."
All seven Kings agreed wholeheartedly, for you see, they fell in love with the wife and made her their Queen."
"Gigi," the sleepy girl giggled.
"Yup, it was Gigi. When her daughter was born, the Kingdom celebrated and rejoiced, for the Kings were so loved. They spent many years together and fought many battles. But no matter what, they didn't let anything separate them. They kept their word to the knight. They loved their Queen and all their Princesses and Princes. And in the end, they were Forever Together."
Scout looked down at the sleeping girl in her arms and smiled. She never saw herself as a mom, but when she found out she was pregnant at 16, she knew she would be okay. She had the world's most amazing family and more support than anyone could ever ask for.
"She asleep?"
Scout nodded her head as she went to sit beside her Eomma; her Appa was already fast asleep on the recliner. "Yeah, Forever Together always knocks her out."
"It's a good story," Ami mused, "it was always your favorite too."
"Because it's the only one out of all of them that seems like a fairytale. Sure, Uncle Johnny's pirate adventures are fun. But Gigi's story has heartbreak, true love, and a happy ending. What more could you ask for?"
"One day, when I get to meet him. I want to thank him for the sacrifice he made for us."
Scout nodded her head before she leaned onto her mother's shoulders. "He sounds so amazing. I love my grandpa's with everything I am. But Grandpa Noah just always seemed larger than life."
"I know," Ami patted Scout's knee, "now we should get to bed because Julie and Dew will be here in the morning, and they are bringing the twins with them."
Scout groaned. The twins were absolute terrors, and the only person they listened to was Joon, much to everyone's annoyance, especially Jin's. "Fine, but when they leave, I want ice cream."
"Deal."
