Chapter Twenty Seven

Continuation of Raymond's POV

After our lunch date, I dropped her off at her apartment. Thank goodness she didn't allow me to walk her to the door. It was as if she could see through me that I'm afraid Sarah might still be the one to open the door. I opened the car door for her, hugged her and waited for her to enter the apartment before driving off. Thank God Sarah didn't have my time, I could tell that she was worried about her friend. Well I'll be too if I have one but I don't, so here am I. One thing I'm grateful for is the gift of Sarah in Dara's life. She's truly the definition of who a friend is. You're surprised? I am too! Well, I might seem heartless to you but I'm also human, so I know real friends when I see them.

Dara's POV

I noticed that Raymond is nervous and will probably break down if Sarah answers the door, so I dismissed him from walking me to the door. He tried to hide the fact that he was pleased with that decision of mine but guess what, I've got a sharp eye.

Sarah answered the door and hugged me when she realized I was the one knocking on the door. She dragged me inside after closing the door which is more like slamming.

"How are you? Did he treat you well? Tell me! If he dares touch a strand of hair on you, I'll go and give him a piece of my mind right now. Babe, how are you feeling?"

"Sarah, calm down. As you can see I'm perfectly fine"

"Are you sure? "

"Yes dear"

"Oya tell me how the date went. I want the full gist o"

I recapped how the date went for her...

"How dare he??? Do you want me to go and beat him or teach him a lesson for you?" She asked furiously

"No, you wouldn't do that. I won't allow you to go to jail for me"

"But babe you know we're in this together, right?"

"Yes, I know but you going to jail for this is not worth it"

"Dara, you know you don't have to get married to Raymond. You can just return his ring and we'll relocate to somewhere else."

"And then what? You think they wouldn't find us?"

"Babe, have you forgotten who God is?"

"No Sarah, but what did He say to all these things? Nothing! He was watching them lure me to the office and gbam, I got engaged"

"Darasimi, don't you dare turn your back on God at this point! God is the Wise One and even in His silence, He speaks, only if we'll be patient to listen to the rhythm of the silence. He loves you and you know that. He's not a man that'll back out on His words concerning you."

"I'm sorry, but what about the NGO?"

Writer's POV

"Darasimi, I'm highly disappointed in you right now. Is that all you care about? Have you forgotten that God is the driver here? Have you forgotten that it is only God who gave you that vision that can fund it? It is only by His strength that you can run it? Have you forgotten that everything done outside the radar of your love for God is zero? I think you need to humble your heart to receive what God is saying concerning this issue.

See, it's pride and ignorance that'll make man tell God, Keep me and give me my daily bread. I'll sort out the rest myself. He loves you and cares for you. He wants the best for you. Babe, give Him the wheel! Let Him be the driver on this journey. Your strength alone cannot do this. It is only Him that can help us!"

Darasimi burst into tears, and keep asking,

"Why me God? Why me? You know I am weak and have no strength. Why would You bring such a trial my way? I'm at a crossroad and I don't know where to go"

"Babe, weakness is made perfect in His strength. All you have to do is to trust Him. He'll sort everything out in His way. Please stop crying, or I'll start crying too. Abba's love is enough for us" Sarah consoled and hugged her.

What kind of friends do you keep? Yes, you!

The kind of friends you keep determines how far you go in life. See, you don't become friends with everyone that comes your way. Yes, we're commanded to love everyone but it's not everyone you make your friends with. It's only a lost sheep that makes friends with everyone because it doesn't have a direction. Friendship is a ship that ought to be chosen prayerfully and wisely.
