Chapter Twenty Eight

Darasimi's POV
Two weeks later...
I quickly had my bath, dressed up and waved at Sarah who was on the couch goodbye. You're wondering what happened in the past two weeks, right? Well, it has been filled with several dates with Raymond and the most annoying part is that the tabloids wouldn't stop talking about us. They even had the nerve to ask why it's taking us so long to get married. As if two weeks is enough to get to know the man you're spending forever with.
Urrgh... Well, let me leave that aside. I'm having a lunch date with mum and I can't afford to be late or else she wouldn't let me hear the end of it. On getting there, I quickly parked my car and entered the restaurant. I didn't have to look much before I saw her checking her wristwatch. On getting to the table she rolled her eyes at me and said,
"Young woman, you're two minutes late"
"Mum please, at least I'm here safe and sound. Thank God the traffic wasn't that bad on my way here"
"Ah, It's your dad that doesn't allow me to correct you in peace. Let's leave that aside. How are you doing honey?"
"I'm fine mum" I replied with a smile
"Thank God we both know that's a fake smile. You know Sarah came to see me and we talked at length. I know you've been going on dates with Raymond. I knew my mistake is telling your dad and advising you too that Raymond is the best man out there for you. I'm sorry for that.
But honey, don't sacrifice your happiness for a company that money can buy. Your happiness should be what matters most. I might not know much about your Jesus but do you think this is what He would do if He were to be in your shoes? Omo mi (my child), please think things through."
Before mum could finish talking, I was already crying...

Writer's POV
"I'm not happy mum. Even though he seems like a nice guy and has been treating me well so far, I don't want to marry him" she said between sobs
"Honey, come here (she put Dara on her lap). Don't put unnecessary pressure on yourself." Mum was cut off by the sound of her phone ringing. She didn't want to pick it up but when she realized it was dad, she answered the call. But then, it would have been better if she hadn't...
"Hello sir"
"So, we're still on this? No more endearments for me abi, Wuraola? Anyway, I know you're having a lunch date with Dara (she gasps). Oh, there's no need to be surprised. You're my wife, so you should know by now that you can't hide anything from me.
Ok, so Raymond and I discussed, their wedding will be held next week. I've already booked an appointment with the event planner for 3 pm today. So please accompany her there. I'll send you the address. Talk to you later dear"
He didn't wait for her response before he hung up on her. Whereas when Mrs Adetoun was on call Darasimi went online and met the greatest shock of her life... Yes, you guessed right. Her wedding date is out!!!
Both mother and daughter received the greatest shock of their lives. Immediately Sarah saw what was happening on the net, she left the office and drove down to the restaurant. On seeing her friend, she hugged and consoled her not minding the looks people are giving them. When they all calmed down, Wuraola requested an extra sit for Sarah.
"Darasimi, you can't possibly agree and go ahead with this wedding. Please think this through"
"Sarah is right honey. You know we..." She was cut off once again by the ringing of her phone. When she realized it was her husband, she answered the call and put it on speaker.
"Oh, a piece of advice which I forget to mention earlier. My men are all over the town watching you, so don't even dare to run away. Tell Dara there's no backing out now."
"Why are you doing this to your daughter?" Wuraola asked
"Providing her with the best husband. That's what real fathers do and please tell her, I love her" Mr Adetoun hung up
Darasimi wiped her tears with the back of her hands and faced her mother,
"Mum it's past 2 pm, let's not keep the event planner waiting."
