Chapter Twenty Two

Raymond's POV

"Ooooh..." I was singing along with my favourite artiste as I drive myself home. Oh yes, I gave my driver the rest of the day off. I'm the happiest man on earth right now.

"Who would have known that my plan would work" I muttered to myself

"Mr Adetoun is such a schemer. Pretending as if he's a changed man just to lure Dara to the office"

"And whose fault is that?" my subconscious mind asked

"Definitely not me. If he has said No to the plan, I would have agreed and think of something else"

"As if you would take NO for an answer" my subconscious mind scoffed

"Hmm, that's right but all that matters is that we're going to get married" I screamed

"That's if she doesn't reject your ring and tell it to the whole world that she wasn't given a chance to say Yes or No. Is that how desperate you are???"

"Yes, that's how desperate I am. She's the only medicine that can cure my loneliness. So, I would do anything in my power to have her by my side" I snapped

"At the expense of her happiness?" It asked

"Well, it's just a matter of time" I shrugged

"I wonder when you become this heartless, that people's opinion doesn't matter to you anymore"

"I'm not heartless!"

"Remind me again, are you doing this because you love her or for the company?"

"Wanting both for myself doesn't make me a selfish man because I'm only taking what belongs to me"

"You know you would be blamed for the drift in the family. Just stop this tantrum of yours already"

"I'm not throwing one. Concerning the drift, I'll do something about it. I can see through Mr Adetoun that he's only trying to be strong for his family. He loves his daughter and that is all that matters"

"Talking you out of this mess you've gotten yourself into is a waste of time"

"Blah blah blah..."

The security opened the gate for me and I drive in into my abode.

Bisade's POV

It was quite hot in the afternoon and even though the PHCN took off light few minutes ago, my body is already covered with sweat, so I went into the bathroom and had a shower. I served myself the little rice that remained, sit on the couch and decided to check what's going on in the world but the first headline that catches my attention hammers my soul.

How did it happen? I mean it's been a month or so already. I thought the contract has been cancelled. Well, after the stunt I pulled at Dara's apartment, the bitch's mother called to warn me to stay away from them. Who needs them anyway! Stupid family!!!

"Wow, so it was a stupid family that raised the great Bisade and taught her morals and values" my stupid subconscious mind mocked me

"Who you sabi help (who did you help?)"

"At least one of us has sense but it's such a pity that it's not you. I can see that you haven't learn your lesson"

"Which lesson are you talking about?" I asked

"I just pity you. I mean, it was the girl in question that you wanted to harm but what happened to you the last time? Those guys used your body and at the same time collected your money and run away"

"It was that conniving bitch that I called a friend. How dare she set me up like that! It's not her fault, it's Dara's fault because if she hadn't snatched my man all this wouldn't have happened!"

"Raymond is not your man. Marital relationship is between two willing hearts, so stop dreaming!"

"He's my man!!!"

"Keep deceiving yourself. You don't even love him. Oh that reminds me, you love his money right? Stop trying to reap where you've not planted! Do something worthwhile with your life instead of ruining people's lives" the bitch shut up at last

Oh Toyin, you better watch out because first no dey pain (the first doesn't pain, like the subsequent ones). Darasimi my sweet sister, it's time to be good sisters again. I smiled as I thought of my next move. At least it wouldn't hurt to try again or is it bad to stripe off other people of what belongs to them?
