Dara's POV

I was having my breakfast and at the same time going through some documents that needed my attention so Sarah could take them along with her to the office since I was on leave, when a call came through on my phone and I was quite surprised when I realized that it was dad. I thought he was mad at me because we haven't talked in a while, when I say in a while I mean since the marriage fiasco so you can imagine why I'm surprised.

"Good morning dad" I said with a bit of hesitant

"Morning dear. Yes, I know I haven't been the best dad lately and I'm really sorry for that" he apologized

I chuckled and replied, "Well, I understand dada"

"No dear, I shouldn't have been so selfish. A father doesn't abandon his child no matter what. It's been a month or so and I didn't even bother to check up on you. I am really sorry dear" he apologized

"Like I said earlier, I understand dad" I answered with a smile on my face

"So, apology accepted?" He asked

"Apology accepted" I replied

Even though I was a bit hurt by his actions, I am not someone who would hold grudges. I have forgiven him long before. I realized that it's only God that can love me unconditionally matter my shortcomings and weakness, and even though I love my dad and all that, he's not perfect.

"Thank you so much my daughter" he said

"It's nothing dad"

"It's something Darasimi. You don't know how happy I am. Can you branch by the office later so I could give you a treat? I know that you're on leave but please do this for your old man and besides it's been a while I've seen you" he begged

"Alright dad, I'll come around 12pm then"

"Ok dear. Your mum sends her regards" he announced

"Oh, please tell her not to forget our outing tomorrow" I informed him

"No problem. See you later dear" he said

"Bye dad"I replied and hanged up

Truly, there's always a blessing in every challenges that comes our way. No matter how insurmountable it looks, we just have to open our eyes and see the blessing in it. Mum has been by my side this past month and even though she still thinks Raymond is the best man for me, the fact that she's there with me brings so much joy to my heart.

Mum is always the disciplinarian. The strict one between my parents, so I kind of get along with dad more than her and so I was surprised and also thankful to God that the bridge built between us has been filled up.

"You're coming over to the office today?" Sarah asked

"I guess so... Dad wants to give me a treat, even though I feel that something is not right." I explained to her

"You know your intuitions are always right and the last time you didn't listen to it didn't end well. So what do you want to do now? She asked

"I'll just pretend as if nothing is amiss" I replied

"Dara, please be careful" she said with concern

"I will dear. Thank you so much for being there always"

"Blah blah blah... You're not welcome since there's no point in appreciating me" she said with a wink

"You practically put your life on hold for me" I tried to reason her

"Which I have no doubt about that you would do the same. See my dear best friend, you're glued to me for the rest of our lives. No running away" she emphasized dramatically

"I wouldn't dare!" I replied and we both laughed

"Honey, as much as I would love to continue, I'm not on leave like you so I have to go to work now. See you later!" She said, hugged me and left

I love Sarah so much and I wouldn't dare trade her for anything in the world. She put her life on hold for me. What kind of friend does that? Real friends!!! Three weeks after the whole fiasco, she permanently moved out of her apartment to mine to take care of me (in her words).

She gave her apartment to her sister who just moved to Lagos and was looking for a place to stay. She almost lost her job because she's my friend. Thank God that mum talked to dad about it. Sarah is such a wonderful person. Oh blessed is the man that husbands her for he finds a good thing and obtain favour from the Lord.

I finished eating, washed the dishes and took a short nap before preparing to go to the office.....
