Continuation from Dara's POV
"Oh God, what do I do now? Why didn't I just keep shut? Oh Dara, your mouth is too big." I keep shouting at myself
"Oluwadarasimi my daughter, you know I love you and there's no questioning about that but what you just said now is too big for your mouth.
But know this, you're getting married to that young man. It is either that or I disown you and I'll make sure you don't find a job in this country. Thank God you know who I am and what I'm capable of doing and also, forget about the NGO you've always dreamed of. The only key to reverse this is getting married to that young man" He said and left the living room in anger before I could beg him.
I know my dad. He's a man of his word. Everything he said has already been stamped. Who do I go to for help? Who would believe that a man disowned his biological daughter because of anger. Father, it is only You who can do something to the situation on ground. I kept thinking as I cried
"Dara! Dara! So, you and your father can fight to the point of him uttering such a word. I raised you better than this. Where has my daughter gone to? Who are you? Why do you look like my daughter? See, crying won't solve the situation on ground. You know your father loves you but one thing I'm quite sure of is that he won't disown you but he'll do everything in his power to get you married to Raymond." she said as she looks at me with concern
"Mum, please help me to talk to him. Give me the chance to choose my own husband by myself..." I kept begging as I held her legs
"The only thing I can help you with, like I said earlier is the part of disowning. He wouldn't do that to you, but you see, you're getting married to the man. It is either at your own freewill or we use force" she said and also left the living room
I quickly carried my bag and left the house. I drove to the beach to clear my head...
"Lord, You said we should honour our parents so that our days will be long in the land which you'll give us. But You also said we should not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. You said it's not even up to consideration. Father, please what do I do? I love my parents so much. Where do I start from if they disown me? What should I do Lord? Please, lighten up my path. I'm confused and not at peace." I kept thinking before I was brought back from my thinking spree by the vibration of my phone.
It was Sarah who called (phone conversation)
"Hi honey, I feel troubled in my spirit and I know I needed to call. Please talk to me, what's going on?" she said immediately I picked up
I couldn't answer, I just kept crying...
"See, I don't know what is going on right now but I know that crying won't solve anything. So, can you try to tell me where you are so that I can come and drive you home because, you're not in the right state of mind to drive right now" she said with concern
I told her where I was and hanged up the phone.
After she got me home and managed to calm me down, I told her what happened earlier.
"Dara, you know I love you and you're aware of the fact that God loves you more. Even more than your parents. You shouldn't have said what you said in the first place. Believers or not, they're still your parents and therefore, you have to give them the honour due to them.
Let's leave that aside, this is not a time to cry and cry because it won't solve a thing. All we need to do is to go to the place of prayer to settle this. So, right now I want you to call Pastor and inform him about what is going on and tomorrow, maybe you should probably go to Raymond's Company and reason things out with the man. I don't think a matured man would want to get married to someone he doesn't know. But please while there be cautious of things you say. We don't want to add another coal to the burning fire." she said to me
I called Pastor and he said I should see him in church the following day when I close for work. Sandra spent the night at my apartment while we keep praying for divine intervention on the issue.
