"Don't go. Please stay,"Aris pleaded.

"No. I'm not staying here any longer. I can't sit by and watch. I'm getting out of here, and you can't stop me."

"You can't go out there. You're not going to make it."

"I can't stay here and watch my friends go through a Maze everyday. If you're okay with watching them die then fine, but I'm not,"I said firmly, holding back tears.

"You promised you wouldn't leave me. You promised to be by my side forever. Remember?"

"I don't think I can stay here much longer Aris. I'm losing my mind,"I sighed, dangling my feet above my top bunk.

"It's better than being alone in what the world has to offer. Besides, you'll always have me,"He promised, leaning his head against my shoulder.

"Yeah. There is that one good thing WICKED has to offer. As long as it has you I'm staying."

"I can't be here. Nothing you say can stop me. I'll face every Crank in the world if it means escaping. Don't you understand? WICKED isn't good. They are the apithemy of evil."

"You promised,"He repeated, choking back sobs.

"Aris, do you truly love me?"

"More than anything."

"Then, let me go. I can't stand by and watch this happen. I want to be my own person. I crave independence and justice. You're spending your time thinking there's a cure. So I'm leaving,"I said, throwing my small bag over my shoulder.

"If you're going to leave can you do me one thing?"He asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

"It depends. What is it?"I asked, praying it wasn't something to make me stay. The sooner he accepts that I'm not doing that the better.

"Let me kiss you just one last time."

That I could agree to. It was something I wanted just as much as he did. So right there in front of the exit door I kissed him with everything I had, like it would help me survive. Because he used to truly be all I needed to do that. Now I knew there was more, but remembering how his lips feel on mine, how his hands feel when they cup my cheek makes me want to stay. Knowing that I may not make it two inches out the door if I stayed here with him I pulled away.

"Goodbye Aris. I love you so much more than you'll ever know,"I swore, wiping the remaining tears from his face.

"Don't forget me,"He whispered, his voice pained and cracked.

"I could never forget you."

A second later the alarm went off. We both knew what it was for. Quickly kissing him one last time I sprinted out the door.

Depite the icy wind nipping against my face as I ran my eyes were hot with tears. All I can do is hope by some miracle that he sees the truth and find his way back to me.

"Hey Y/N. What's on your mind?"Gally asked as I gazed up at the sky.

"The same as always,"I shrugged.

"Do you still think Aris will find his way to you one day?"He questioned.

Gally was the only one allowed to ask because he was the only one allowed to know. After all, we were both kids of WICKED. We had to stick together. So Gally knew everything. Even the part about me having worked for them for a while. Thankfully, we had put the past aside and became friends. When you've gone through what we have that's almost a given. It's not like anyone else has ever seen the Greivers or what they do there. So of course he knew about Aris.

"I just keep hoping so. It's one of the only things keeping me going,"I admitted.

"Seeing him?"

"Kind of. More of him coming to his senses and getting the hell out of there. Then, finding his way to me."

"Y/N, we need you to help some people get fake papers,"Dan called.
"I guess I'm off. I'll see you later Gally."
"Okay. See you Y/N."

"What are we dealing with?"I asked Dan as we walked towards the city limits.

"Two guys and three girls. They're all around your age. They need papers to get in, but they can't have anyone know their names. They've been real vague on answers so be careful with them. In case they're spies or connected to WICKED,"He warned quietly.

"Will do,"I assured him as the lady took my temperature before testing for the flare.

"Hmph. All these stuck up munnies running around and ruining our city,"She said under her breath. I pretended not to hear. This happened all the time.

"Okay. Do we know anything more about them?"I asked as we were out of the city limits.

"They showed up in this WICKED Berg. We made them wait inside for now,"He shrugged. That was definitely strange. Either they stole it or...something else. I don't want to think about that though. I'm tired of getting my hopes up.

"Come on out. I've got the girl who's gonna help you out,"Dan yelled, banging on the door.

The door descended and out stepped four people. I was about to turn and ask Dan where the other guy was when I saw him.

He was taller now, and his hair was shorter, but I'd recognize him anywhere. No matter how many years we've spent apart I'll never forget the only boy I could ever love. I just hoped he remembered me.

He slowly walked forward to me, and from the disbelief on my face I knew he did. After all this time he recognized me.

"Is it really you?"He asked, gently grabbing my hand as if to be sure I was real.

"I waited for you. I was starting to think I'd never get to see you again,"I whispered, feeling tears run down my face. These weren't tears of anguish like last time. These were tears of pure joy because he was here.

"Don't cry. I'm here now, and this time I'm never letting you go,"He promised, gently cupping my face. It was an all to familiar feeling as his thumb wiped away tears streaming down my face.

Not being able to wait another second I crashed my lips against his. I wrapped my arms around his neck as we moved in perfect synce. My other half was back, and I wasn't letting go. Because with him we were the only two people to exist, and that would always be more than okay with me.
