Aris's P.O.V

I don't know how long I had spent walking in no direction, but I knew that I couldn't do it forever. By the time I actually got to our home though it was almost pitch black outside. I had a feeling that she was asleep, doing her best to pretend this didn't happen. She's good at that. She's good at trying to run from reality when it gets hard. I'm good at pretending it's not real.

With a sigh, I opened our door. As expected all of the lights were off, and she was curled up on the edge of the bed wrapped in blankets.

After taking off nothing but my shoes I carefully laid beside her. She was curled up in a ball with her back towards me.

"I'm sorry, you know? For always ignoring what I don't want to hear,"I whispered. Waiting a moment, I watched for any sign of her being awake. She was out like a light.

"I'm sorry angel, but knowing you gave it all up for me is hard to accept. Especially, when I know that your old life was good,"I admitted, daring to move closer. Despite everything, despite the way I had just left for hours, despite the way we just had that argument that almost didn't seem like an argument, I wrapped my arms around her. Like we always slept, she placed her hands over mine as we were as close as possible. Because this was safe and comfortable, and I like that. I like what I know. There's been too much in my life that's been nothing but questions, and I don't want that to be us.

It always will be though if I don't ask.

"I love you my angel. I love you so don't leave. Please don't be another person who finds a way to walk out of my life,"I quietly begged, burying my face in the crook of her neck. The only reaction I got was silence.

Your P.O.V

Waking up, I half expected him to be somewhere else. Maybe having stayed at one of his friends or just chosen to leave for work early.

Instead, when I tried to move I felt his arms wrapped around me. For once, he was still home in the morning after an argument.

Normally, I would wake him up so we could actually get to our jobs on time. Right now though I couldn't find it in me to do that. I just wanted to be here in his arms where I was the safest. These little moments are always what clear up any doubts that this could have been the wrong choice. The little moments that have him.

"I love you,"I whispered, gently tracing little shapes on his arm with my fingertips. Despite my touch being light as a feather and how he was the furthest thing from a morning person (a literal nightowl) I heard his once even breathing slightly change before he took my hand in his. Doing the same back, we laid there in complete, comfortable silence as we both remembered exactly what there was to us. To be honest, I can't recall the last time we just enjoyed and appreciated each other's presence.

Now that we are I really don't want to ruin that, but pushing away our problems is what caused last night's argument in the first place. We had to talk about it. We couldn't just keep sweeping every problem under the rug because no matter how small they start out as they pile up. Even worse, if it was ignored for long enough there wouldn't even be a problem because there wouldn't be an us. We have been through everything. Despite going through things that should have killed us we're here. If we can survive WCKD, the Cranks, and the Scorch, then we can survive acknowledging what's basically the only conflict in our relationship.

"You are my only right choice Aris. Not being here or there. Being with you is what I want,"I promised, turning around and facing him. He stared at me in silence as he seemed to take in not only what I said, but the way the reality of everything that was being spoken of.

"I want to know who you are. I want to know who you always have been and those other little things about you. Like what you did at Christmas or those school parties that you had when you were little,"He whispered.

"You know what those are?"I asked in disbelief.

"A little. I couldn't just ignore everything. I wanted to listen, but I was scared that if you talked about it enough you would miss it enough to go back,"He admitted.

"I couldn't even if I tried. I shifted permanently, Aris. I was always sure that I was meant to be with you. I never gave up on you. I never gave up on us,"I reassured him, gently pushing the hair from his eyes. Seeing him look back at me brought me those feelings that I had since I first saw him.

"People told me I was crazy for thinking this would work. They didn't believe it was possible to have a soulmate from a different universe. I always knew that wasn't true though. You were meant to be mine. You were made for me,"I promised.

"There's still parts of me that are missing, but when I first saw you there was just something that made sense. I couldn't figure out why, but all of a sudden there was just this piece of me that felt complete. Not everything is there and it never will be, but you helped me make peace with that,"He whispered.

"I'm not leaving you, Aris. I'm not taking away any more pieces of you. You don't have to be afraid that I would ever walk away from us,"I coaxed, still playing with his hair as I looked at him.

"Yeah?"

"Yeah. You can't get rid of me no matter how hard you try,"I teased.

"I'm not going to even test that,"He smiled.

"You better not."

"That's what I just said."

"Good. I was just making sure,"I nodded. "We do have to go to work though so-"
"No,"He groaned.

"Aris-"
"Just five minutes,"He pleaded.

"As great as that sounds we have lives to live."

"Put them off for ten minutes,"He shrugged.

"You just said five."

"Fifteen."

"Aris-"
"The more you say no the higher the number goes,"He warned.

"You're ridiculous."

"Twe-"
"Alright, alright. Fifteen minutes,"I gave in.

"I win every time,"He successfully sighed, keeping me close to him.

"Yeah, and I'm always going to let you,"I said before letting out a yawn. With each of us closing our eyes and cuddled together under a blanket, fifteen minutes turned into until Gally barged in and forced us both out of bed.
