A New Story

Chapter 6

Over the course of the next week, Harry and Severus formed some sort of bond and Harry always spent his free time with the man. The boy was very grateful that his professor managed to persuade the Headmaster to look for a different person to take care of him.

Finally, it was the last few days of his first year at Hogwarts, Harry was slightly nervous because he still hasn't been informed of who he was going to stay with. 

Headmaster's office

'Hello Albus, did you ask for me?' Severus asked Dumbledore.

'Yes, Severus, sit down.' 

'I have a big favor to ask you.' he added.

'Yes?'

'Since you seem to care for Mister Potter a lot, would you mind being his guardian from now on? You were friends with Lily when you were children and you have a stable job. I think you would be a very good guardian to him.'

'This is quite a big decision to make, Albus. I need some time to think and I do not know if I am suitable. I have only recently taken an interest in Potter and you also need to take his own feelings into account.'

'Of course, but please make up your mind and come to me when you have time tomorrow.'

A while later

'Mister Potter, come in.'

'Hi, Professor Dumbledore.'

'Good morning, sorry for pulling you out of transfiguration class. I am here to discuss your living arrangements and guardian.'

'Yes, I was wondering about that.'

'I have just talked with Professor Snape and asked if he could take you in. He told me to find out if you would like that.'

'Yeah! Definitely, I would do anything to get away from the Dursleys.'

'That sounds good. I shall talk with Professor Snape then. If there are any changes, I will make sure you go to a nice family so do not worry about it at all.'

Next day

'Albus, I have made up my mind. I would like to become Mister Potter's official guardian. Have you spoken to the boy yet?'

'That's great, Severus. Yes, I have asked him and he was very enthusiastic about it.'

'Well, now that it is settled, I need to think about where we are going to stay for summer break.'

'I have a cottage in the countryside that I used to live in with my family when we went to visit our grandmother, would that be fine or would you like to stay at Hogwarts.'

'I believe the cottage would be best.'

'Okay then.'

'I will inform Mister Potter about the arrangements and are there any documents that I need to sign?'

'Yes, you and Mister Potter need to sign some papers regarding the guardianship.'

Dumbledore conjured up some papers and handed them to Severus.

'I will make sure he signs these as well.' 

That night 

Knock Knock

'Come in, Harry.'

'Hi, Professor Snape. Was wonder if I could do homework here tonight.'

'Sure. I have something to discuss with you, Mister Potter.'

'Is it about the guardianship? The headmaster told me about it.'

'Yes, and I have decided that I will accept.'

'Thank you! Does this mean I won't have to see the Dursleys ever again?'

'I still have to get them to sign the paper which say they transfer the guardianship to me and I am also planning to sue them but except those few situations, you will no longer need to live with them again.'

'Sue them?!'

'Correct, Harry. I will not stand on the side while these lunatics can run free after what they did to you.'

Harry let out a small sigh of annoyance because he would not like the newspapers to mention him again but an event like this will definitely draw him attention. But he was super happy that he finally has a father figure in his life.
