Just then, a young woman with brown hair and blue eyes in a professional dress walked in through the teacher's entrance.
She slid in a seat between Severus and Regulus and whispered to Severus so as to not interrupt the Ceremony, 'Hi, you must be Professor Snape, I'm Summer Addison. I will be your assistant this year. Apologies for my lateness. '
'Hello, Miss Addison. Great to have you here, I look forward to working with you.'
'Just call me Summer, no need with the formalities.'
'Then, I insist you call me Severus.'
'Okay, Severus.'
Regulus didn't like this woman, he didn't like the way she was looking at Severus smiling, exposing her pearly whites, he especially didn't like Severus looking at her the same way, and how dare she just grab a chair and shove it between him and Severus, his best friend. He wanted to punch her in the face, her perfect, beautiful face. But, no, he thought, he couldn't be like his rash brother so he just turned and talked to Flitwick who was a bit furious that he took away 50 points from his house and was demanding an explanation.
After the sorting, the sorting was all done. Dumbledore gave his infamous speech about the rules and at last, he introduced the new teachers.
'Everyone, I am pleased to announce we have three new teachers this year. They: are Professor Gilderoy Lockhart who will be your DADA professor this year,' Lockhart waved to the student body and some girls giggled, 'Professor Benjamin Alden, your History of Magic professor,' he nodded at the students and again the girls swooned, 'And last but not least, Professor Summer Addison, Professor Snape's assistant. She has ever right a teacher has which includes taking and giving house points.' She stood up and bowed to the students which made the boys pay attention. 'Now, let the feast begin!'
The students gobbled up the food and the first years were looking all over the place.
At last, it was time to go to their dorms. The head of houses and Summer stood up to go to their house's children for an introduction to the first years. While walking there, Regulus pulled on Severus' sleeve, 'Breakfast tomorrow together at 7:15, just like before. Okay?' even if he could have just wrote to Severus in the notebook about that, he made sure to be loud enough so that Summer could hear. He needed to make sure she wouldn't steal his friend away.
Severus nodded and went to follow his students with Summer rushing behind him to catch up.
On the way to the dorm, Summer asked, 'So, are you with Professor Alden?'
'What do you mean?'
'I meant are you in a relationship with him?'
Severus became flustered, 'Oh God no, our relationship is strictly platonic. Why do you ask?'
'Just curious. I want to know everything about my collogues. I am going to work with them for a year.'
'Do you know what you are supposed to do in order to help me?'
'Yeah, I can help you mark essays and tests and when we're in lessons, I can help your students perfect their potions and make sure they don't have any accidents.'
'Well, yes, that is generally what you are required to do. Do you have any teaching experience?'
'No, this is my first job. May I ask why you need an assistant? You seem very capable.'
Severus made a soft grunt at that.
'Sorry, I've always been a bit intruding on other people's lives, forgive me.'
'It is fine, Summer.' He handed her a stack of parchment he had been carrying, 'Please hand these out to the first years when I finish telling them what to expect in their first year at Hogwarts.'
'Okay.'
They soon arrived at the dungeons where the Slytherin common room was.
'First years, please stay in the common room until Professor Snape is finished telling you about your new school year.' the Slytherin prefect, Amanda Young told the six little eleven-year-olds.
'Good evening, everyone. I am Professor Severus Snape, your Head of House. Your house would be like you family so I hope you will feel relaxed and happy during your time with us. I can see this year we have very little students here in Slytherin, please use this to your advantage and make one another your friends because you are going to be here for seven years. Now, moving on, there are going to be a lot of subjects, if you have any problems with your homework or tests, go to my office or find Miss Addison. If you simply want to chat, you may also come to me. I will teach you potions so I expect you to try your best at it. Of course, I expect you to also try hard in other subjects. Some simple rules, boys aren't allowed in girls' dorms but the opposite is allowed. Any questions?'
A boy with dark blonde hair and an overbite raised his hand.
'Yes, Mr.?'
'Lenrod.'
'What is you question, Mr. Lenrod.'
The boy seemed to be hesitant in asking his question and asked in a shaky voice, 'M-my sister said that you're really strict, is that true?'
'Well, as long as you don't get yourself in trouble, I won't be hard on you. Any other questions?'
The students shook their heads.
'Miss Addison will now give you your timetables. Do not be late to any classes.'
Summer gave out the pieces of paper and the students looked over them intently.
'Prefects, bring them to their dorms.' Severus instructed the two.
