After the Herbology class, Harry, Ron, and Hermione rushed off to a corner. They double-checked for anyone before putting on the Invisibility Cloak.

Carefully, they moved to the second-floor girls' bathroom, making sure they didn't step on the cloak and reveal themselves. They went in and saw the old and battered down sinks and the grimy floors but the thing that stuck out to them was the ghost floating on top of one of the toilets. They checked the surroundings to see if there were any good places for them to brew the potion and unanimously decided that it was good enough if they managed to get Myrtle out.

They crept back to the Gryffindor Tower and went to bed early as they had another great adventure tomorrow.

The next day, they all met up in the Great Hall for breakfast.

'Good morning.' Hermione greeted rubbing her eyes.

'Mornin' Hermione.' Harry said.

Ron waved his hand and rubbed his eyes.

'Do you have the sage?' Harry whispered behind his hand.

Hermione nodded and spread some butter and jam onto her toast and took a bite.

'When are we going to go?' asked Hermione softly.

'After all our classes. We need to move quickly though because we need to be on time for curfew.' Harry replied.

They went to their classes, excitedly waiting for the potion brewing. Finally, it was the end of their classes. They, again, went to the second-floor bathroom and lit the sage. Myrtle went into the pipes of the toilets to avoid the smell.

Hermione took out her cauldron from her bag.

'Wow. How'd you fit the cauldron into that tiny bag?' Ron questioned.

'Extension charm.' Hermione told him as if it was the most obvious thing ever.

'Okay. Focus everyone. We need five toads' eyes, three salamander tails, a drop of slug juice, and a little chicken's blood. I have the toads' eyes, salamander tails, and slug juice but not the chicken's blood.' Harry told the two.

'Ugh, so we need to find and kill a chicken?' Ron groaned.

'No, you idiot. We can easily get chickens at Hagrid's. And Harry, how much blood do we need exactly?' Hermione asked.

'5 milliliters.' Harry replied.

'That's not a lot, we don't need to kill the chicken. We can just use something to prod it or something.' Hermione stated.

'So, are we going to go now?' Ron was not happy about going outside, especially at this late hour.

'Come on, it'll be quick and Hagrid wouldn't report us.' Harry said, wanting to get a move on.

'Alright, alright.' Ron begrudgingly agreed.

They spedwalk to Hagrid's hut to avoid teachers' or students' attention.

They knocked on Hagrid's door.

'Oh 'ello. What are yer doin' here?' Hagrid said in his loud, thunderous voice.

'Hi, Hagrid. May we borrow a chicken?' Hermione asked politely.

'Come in first,' Hagrid said, giving way to the children and closing the door when they all stepped in.

'So, why do yer need a chicken?' Hagrid asked, sitting down in his enormous chair.

'Can you promise you won't tell anyone first?' Harry grunted out while trying to climb onto a chair.

The giant sighed before answering, 'Are yer getting in trouble again?'

'Erm, well,' Hermione started, her face turning slightly red, 'We're just trying to get a better education, you see. We can't learn anything from Lockhart, all the man talks about is himself. We want to keep having Professor Snape. We decided to keep Lockhart a chicken.'

Hagrid looked at the three thoughtfully before saying, 'Fine. I need ta get 'im back for tryin' to duel Grawp.'

'Who's Grawp?' Ron's face scrunched up saying the name.

'My half-brother. Need ta introduce 'im to yer one day.' Hagrid said, 'Come 'ere, I'll help you get some chicken's blood.' he motioned towards the chicken pen in front of his window.

After they finished their task, Hagrid sent them on their way and the children quickly and quietly ran back to the bathroom under the Invisibility Cloak.

They sat criss-cross on the floor and Hermione and Harry carefully added the ingredients in at the right moment while Ron watched, trying not to fall asleep.

Harry added the chicken's blood slowly and Hermione stirred it five times, clockwise.

'Finally. It's done. We've done it.' Hermione breathed out in exhaustion as she put down the stirring stick.

'Blimey, that took a while.' Ron said, stretching his arms.

'Now, we just gotta wait for it to cool down and by tomorrow, nine in the evening, we should have the potion ready to be consumed by a chicken.' Harry smirked.

The kids rushed back to their dorms, just in time for curfew.

'Night, Hermione.' Harry and Ron said as she went up to the girls' dorm.

The boys creeped back to their beds while the other boys were asleep.

Meanwhile, Severus was sitting in front of his fireplace and reading A Sense of the Enemy when a familiar head poked through the fireplace.

'Severus, my boy please see me in my office.' Dumbledore told him, his voice sounding grave.

Severus didn't question it and followed his orders.
