Chapter 6; The breakup

Nadia's Pov:
Flashback:

''she didn't say no, because I didn't ask her'' he sobbed

''Anwar if you didn't ask why did you come back like this?''

''I overheard her talking on the phone''

The conversation:

''babe lemme go do something in my car, give me two minutes'' I say and I step out of the restaurant leaving her there.

I go to the car to ease my nervousness, so I enter the restaurant and I stand behind her, I see her on a phone call so I decide to wait for her to finish and she didn't notice me standing, so she continued talking

''ke wallahi this morning he talked to me about our introduction

I don't love this guy, it's only his money I am after, yanxu idan yayi proposing marriage bansan yadda zanyi kudin shi kawai nake so bana son shi, I just wasted his time" she finally stopped talking.
The person on the other end said something then she speaks ''ke! Me I have my boyfriend ooo, I don't like stress''
with that I cleared my throat and she is shocked, I pay the bills and I leave.

"Nadia abun shi ne she didn't even bother following me, to talk or anything she let me go like that, Nadia she doesn't care, I gave that relationship my all, three good years
I was ready but I waited for her only for her to break my heart like this''

''rest you need it Anwar, goodnight'' I leave his room to go and sleep.

I wake up, and I enter the toilet to do my morning business, I come out and I go downstairs for breakfast, I meet only Ummi and Abba
''Ummi ina kwana, Abba ina kwana''(good morning)

''lafiya''( fine), they both said and I sit down

''Ina Anwar?''(where's Anwar?) Abba asks

''yana dakinshi''( he's in his room), I reply looking down

''toh mesa bai fito bah?,ba zai ci abinci ne bane?''(so why isn't he out? Isn't he going out to eat?)

''baya jin dadi ne''(he's not feeling well) I reply trying to avoid eye contact so we finish eating and then Abba goes out
So I take our dishes to the kitchen then I go up to my room.

I shower, I put on a pink plain gown and a matching turban, I decide to take tea, so I go downstairs, I meet Ummi, I simply smile at her and she smiles back, then she speaks

''I want tea'' I simply nod and make tea for both of us and I take it to the living room for us.

''Ummi hadha alshaay alkhasu bik''( here's your tea)

''ajlis linatahadath''( sit let's talk), I nod and sit

''Nadia what's wrong with your brother? what happened last night?
You were the only one waiting for him to come back last night so definitely only you will know what's wrong?"

''Ummi Salwa broke his heart, she betrayed him, she took advantage of his money, like how can she do that to him for God's sake after everything he's done for her, he was sooo excited''
I keep quiet because my eyes are getting teary

"madha hadatha?''( What happened?)

I tell Ummi everything that happened
''Ya Allah!  I feel sorry for him, poor boy, amman kinsan me?''( do you know what?)
I shake my head

''Nadia naji dadi ba'ayi auren bah saboda yarinyar nan ba Alkhairi bace a rayuwar shi''
( Nadia I am happy the marriage hasn't happened because it's now evident that this girl is not the right one for him)
