Chapter 2

To say today had been bad would be an understatement. After Jax had point-blank forgotten to take me to the airport, an hour later he finally decided to answer his phone, he thought it would be in 'our' best interest if we took a break from one another. Of course, I had some suspicion about where this was coming from.

The same night of the concert was also the same night of the argument we had- well he had. I did what I always do, sit back and took it.

After entering my apartment, with a key I had no idea he had, I was stood in the middle of my room with nothing but a towel, having just gotten out of the shower I was completely unaware of his presence. Shock spread through me when his hands were suddenly on me, trying to tug down the only material coving my naked body. Keeping my body trapped against the wall and forcing his lips on mine, it was clear he wasn't pleased when I pushed away.

Needless to say, the flight itself wasn't a real treat either. The flight was a few hours long and while I was trying to take a nap it was no use because every time I'd shut my eyes I was woken up by either people excusing themselves to use the lavatory or the annoying kid that sat behind me who wouldn't stop kicking the back of my chair.

So there I sat, deprived of sleep re-watching law and order, when the pilot finally announced our arrival in the city, it was everything I'd dreamed of. The sun was shining warm and blindly.

By the time everyone boarded off and I was on my way to the baggage claim, I suddenly felt like an eighty-year-old with extreme backache. Once collecting my suitcase I walked out of baggage claim and the sudden sight of skyscrapers, the most insane traffic and so not fresh air greeted me instantly.

I loved it. It was exactly what I had expected from the big city.

I was now on my way to my new apartment. I had been pretty lucky. I received the contract from my new job on short notice and had to find a place within days.

The apartment complex I was heading to now, had unexpectedly got a ready-to-rent apartment, which I immediately rented. Because trust me, apartment hunting is a big pain in the ass. It was located in an amazing area and has just enough space for me to be comfortable, or at least that's what it seemed in the pictures.

Pulling up to the address I had given the driver, my mouth immediately falls open in shock. Slowly stepping out of the yellow vehicle I admire the tall building which stood in front of me. It all seemed too good to be true, but when turning back to ask the driver if he'd taken me to the right place, he was gone.

I mean it had to be, right? The number matched my papers.

"Hello, what can I help you with?" A lady at the front desk politely welcomes me when I finally pushed aside my worry and walked in.

"Hi, yes, I uhm rented apartment 269," I informed the older woman.

"Could you please show me your ID and the necessary document?" I nod, passing over the A4 sheet of paper which I held. She scans over the information before turning to the computer beside her. "Miss Winters?"

"Yes," I nodded in clarification.

"Alright, I'll get you up to your apartment." She smiled over at me, gesturing over to where the elevator waited.

I never once had a receptionist at any other place I was staying at showing me my way up to an apartment. I could feel my stomach twist when the doors to the overly clean elevator open.

"And we've arrived at apartment 269. The penthouse suite."

"The what?" I froze, thinking my ears had played a trick on me.

"The penthouse suite," she repeats.

My eyes almost popped out as I looked at my new apartment

My eyes almost popped out as I looked at my new apartment. Everything was bright and shiny. A very expensive-looking chandelier was placed at the centre of the ceiling. The walls displayed a complicated pattern made of gold and silver. The carpet itself looked like it cost more than my entire college tuition. Heck, the whole entryway looked like it cost a bloody fortune.

I slowly started to realise how wrong it was of me to be here.

"Just use your digital key when using the elevator and it should automatically take you directly to your apartment."

I nod with only an expression of confusion which I gathered when the receptionist decided to ask what was wrong. "I'm just not sure if this is the right apartment."

"I can assure you Miss Winters, nothing about the documents is wrong. This is the apartment you rented."

"Oh okay.." my mind wondered when she started talking to me about the apartment and the building itself. It was only when someone familiar came into frame that I snapped out of my thoughts. "What is he doing here?"

"Excuse me?" he spat. "I live here. What's your excuse?"

Devils Star Chapter Two!!

Welcome to New York Aurora.

I think we can all take a guess who made an appearance at the end.

I did draw what the apartment entry way looks like. Of course the red walls are meant to be a fancy gold and silver. But feel free to imagine the apartment however you'd like!
