Harry Styles.
She just laid there, spread on the covers of her sheets, innocently looking back at me with her drunken eyes.
"You're an idiot, Aurora. Don't invite strangers over." My breath grazed her cheek when I leaned down to tuck her into the thick blanket. I could detect a slight tremble beneath my touch when her chest rose and fell with ragged breaths.
"You're not as strong as you think you are." I pulled away from her petite frame when I saw her eyes flutter shut.
I hadn't been this close to Aurora since the night she fell asleep on my chest when I simply talked her ear off with facts about butterflies.
God, she must have found that boring.
I wasn't sure what the sudden familiar feeling I felt in my chest started to spiral again. Just like when she fell asleep on my shoulder while I talked her ear off with facts about butterflies.
An Hour Later.
I felt a breath of fresh air hit me when I stepped out of my car. Walking under the night sky, all I could think about was her and how I needed to clear my mind alone.
"Wow... I didn't expect you to show up here." Turns out I wasn't the only one who needed a minute to myself when I found Zayn stud opposite me, smoking an already lit cigarette.
"Leave me alone." I took out my pack of cigarettes, lighting one up and inhaled the intoxicating fumes.
"Louis told me what happened."
"That dude is such a blabbermouth." Louis was the one to ring me, told me he saw Aurora at the Winking Lizard, drunk off her ass at five in the afternoon. He was also there to witness the whole scene of us arguing unfold, and I guessed that he told Zayn everything.
"Why was she so angry with you?"
"Who knows."
"Treat her well, H. She seems like a nice girl."
"I already think I messed up."
"Doesn't surprise me." I roll my eyes as Zayn chuckles.
I sighed, "She's so careless. She doesn't realize how much danger she puts herself in."
Zayn looks at me in-expectantly. Like he's trying to catch me out on a lie. "What's up with you lately? Since when do you care about a girl like that?"
"I don't care," I answered rather too quickly for my liking. Zayn looks back at me with an expression I couldn't quite decipher.
"So why'd you run away?"
"Who said I ran away?"
He scoffs, shaking his head at my poor attempt at shrugging off this new topic of the subject. "You always come here when you run away from something. What did this girl do to you?"
"It's not what she did to me," I sigh in defeat, "it's what I did to her. I think I might have been too rough on her."
"And now you're scared she doesn't like you any longer?"
"Fuck you."
Zayn chuckles, "Just apologise. It's what normal people do.",
His next words ring in my ears, "She'll forgive you."
She'll forgive you.
What if I don't want her to forgive me? Maybe it's better this way. Aurora, she's a good girl. She's confident, she's ambitious, she's smart. Well sometimes. But she's also so... fragile.
