"Do you know this guy?" Mr Black cocked his head to side as he watched the man in front of us.
I felt frozen at the sight before me. So frozen that I was unable to answer my boss' question.
"I should go introduce myself." I heard the words that came out his mouth but I didn't fully digest them until it was too late. The sound of Black opening and shutting his car door has my eyes widening and my frozen state melted.
"I'm Harry," I hear as I hastily made my way over to the pair. "Why were you giving Aurora a ride home?"
"My car broke down." I quickly say. "He offered me a ride."
Completely looking past me and to the man stood behind me, Harry gave Black a tight lipped smile. "Again.. who exactly are you?"
"Malvolio Black. Her boss."
He hums. "That's nice of you. To do that for her." Despite the words coming from his mouth, there was not an ounce of empathy from his tone nor his face.
"That goes without saying." Black doesn't seem to notice the faux posture. "Aurora is a special employee of mine."
"Is she?" Harry says plainly.
"You two live in the same building?"
"Yes," I spat, quickly and nervously. "He lives just down the hall from me." Technically, I wasn't lying.
I was trying to make eye contact with Harry, to be sure he wouldn't say anything unnecessary. But he wouldn't look in my direction. Instead, his eyes solely stayed focused on my boss.
It wasn't the same stare he had given Liam back once. He looked.. different. Like he was trying to analyse something he didn't like but couldn't figure out.
Meanwhile, Black looked straight back at him. His usual polite and laid back expression on his face. But unlike every encounter I've heard or seen, he didn't back down from Harry's harsh stare.
Clearing my throat, and hopefully the tension with it, I turn to Black with a tight lipped smile, "I should head inside now." Throwing my pointed thumb over my shoulder. "Thank you, again, for driving me."
"Of course, Aurora." His voice putting emphasis on my name. His hand squeezing my shoulder with a small smile on his perfectly rosy lips before leaving in his car.
The ride in the elevator was quiet with an obvious tension in the air. I just couldn't explain why. It was the same weird feeling as when we were fighting.
I couldn't take it anymore.
"Why didn't you call me?" Harry said, beating me first.
My brows naturally knit together, "Why would I?"
"I could've picked you up."
"You would've come to pick me up?"
Harry scoffs, rolling his eyes. "Are you stupid? Of course I would have."
I decided to ignore the insult that came with it.
"First of all, I could've just called an uber. Secondly, he was right there. Why would I call you when he was right there?"
"Because you shouldn't drive with strangers."
"He's my boss, Harry. He's not a stranger."
"Well, I don't like him. There's something about him."
"Maybe he reminds you of yourself." I shrugged. Harry now going bug eyed and repeating my words in question. "You're both successful and young."
"I'm a rockstar, Snow. He's an office drone who has to wear ridiculous suits all his life." Harry shrugs too, crossing his arms for a further effect.
