"Hey... I think we should talk." I didn't even know I was walking towards the familiar until I stopped, staring at the back of his leather jacket, letting the words leave my mouth in a shy manner.
"Oh, you're not Harry." I thought aloud when the imposture turned around. His eyes weren't the same green ones I had stared into many times before. Instead, I was met with the stranger's hooded brown ones.
"Trust me I'm better than this Harry." even his voice wasn't the same. "You don't need this Harry guy."
"Of course, I don-don't need h-him!" the many glasses of whiskey were going straight to my head, "Who'd need his dumbass."
"Lemme take care of you then. Can I get you another drink?"
"I think... I think I've had enough." I slurred.
"What are you talking about? You deserve another one."
"I do?"
"Of course." he left the girl who was still standing waiting for him against the wall, coming to hover over me with his hands resting tightly on my upper arms. "Just relax and have some fun with me."
I hummed softly to myself, "No, I should go."
"Hey baby lemme help you up." the imposer said when I managed to trip over my own two feet.
"Don't." a hand gripped his wrist when it dared to touch me. "Touch her."
"Who the fuck are you?"
"Harry?" When helping me off the floor he folded his arms over his chest, a soft smirk resting on his lips.
"Looking good, Snowflake."
"What are you- what are you doing here?"
"Shouldn't I be asking you this? It's six and you're black-out drunk."
"And who's fault is this?" I slurred, the 's' rolling on my tongue making me sound almost like a snake.
"Mine?" he said bewildered, "Did you get a concussion when you fell, love?"
"If y-you wouldn't act like a total douche.. then maybe I wouldn't be this-" my hands flew in the air, "confused!"
All Harry did was roll his eyes. "C'mon, I'll take you home."
"No, you certainly will not." I slurred during my stubbornness.
"Aurora." he sighed, "We can either do this the easy way or the hard way. Your choice."
"Jus-just go, okaay?"
"The hard way it is then," Harry muttered to himself. Within seconds he was flinging me over his shoulder and walking out of the nightclub with me consistently banging on his lower back.
"Let. Me. Go-" I spoke, hitting his back at each word I let out. And, to my surprise, this time he did actually set me down on the floor of our apartment.
"Are you done screaming?"
"You can't just do whatever you want, Harry!"
"I already told you I can."
"You.." I squinted my eyes and drunkenly shuffled on my feet, trying to think of an insult I could throw his way. "You suck."
He chuckles, the sound vibrating through me and settling into my bones. "C'mon, Snowflake. You can do better than that." he shook him, "But I guess your drunken state can be blamed for that."
"Tell me why you're acting weird."
"I'm acting weird? Don't you think you're the crazy one here?"
"Ever s-since that day you st-started avoiding me! Where did you even go?"
"Were you this worried about me?"
Yes.
"No." I denied, "I just, I just thought.." we would tell each other. The last words got stuck in my throat and before I could relay them we were interrupted by the padding of heels against the oak floor.
"Harry? Where did you go?" a dark-haired woman came out from the hall. Her hair was tangled, her dark red lipstick smudged at the crease of her lips. Her clothes were the only thing still in tacked.
"Who is this?" she snarled at me with her bitter voice.
"Not now, Cass." Harry tried to excuse the girl, only making her snap more when he got her name wrong. "Can you please shut up for a second?"
"So, you can just continue inviting your girls over and I can't invite a single person?"
"No, you can't." I shut my mouth and looked up at him. "How do you know this guy, Aurora?"
"What does that matter!"
"Because you shouldn't just invite some random guy to your place, for fucks sake," Harry yelled and I suddenly could feel myself sobering up.
"Oh, and I suppose you and she are childhood friends?" I reply sarcastically, referring to the girl that still stood behind us.
"That's different."
"How the hell is that any different?" I say, "Just because I'm a girl you think I can't take care of myself? That I need protection?"
"Exactly." I clench my jaw, deciding not to respond but to keep my focus on him. "Tell me Aurora. What if that guy decided to force himself on you? What would you have done?"
"Defend myself of course!"
"How? You're tiny. I wouldn't even need one percent of my body strength to get you where I want you."
"Being tall doesn't automatically make you strong, okay?"
"So, you're saying I'm weak?"
"Maybe."
Harry's brows shot up. We both stood in the middle of the room silently staring at each other.
"I don't know what this bullshit is, but I'm outta here!" the dark-haired girl spoke. I had forgotten she was still here and by the looks of things, so did Harry. But when she passed he didn't say goodbye. He didn't even look in her direction.
Instead, his darkened eyes remained solely on mine. "Do you honestly believe you could handle me, Snowflake?"
"There's a possibility."
There was no possibility.
"Then why don't we test this little theory of yours, huh? Let's see if you can defend yourself against a guy."
"Hold on I-" my words were shortly cut off by Harry himself when he suddenly started walking towards me, causing me to back up until there was no footing left, a small gasp escaped my lips when the cold wall touched my small back. "What are you doing?"
"Defend yourself." he simply spoke, not giving me any time before dipping down and throwing me over his shoulders for the second time tonight.
"Harry!" I yelled as he threw me down onto my bed-made sheets. "What the hell are you doing?" I repeated.
"C'mon Aurora, defend yourself."
