Noceur
(n.) one who stays up late-Elijah-
Apparently laying in a field full of wet grass is Elora's idea of an adventure.
She held my hand the whole way here. I think she was a little scared I wouldn't follow if she let go. I would've. I think I'd follow her anywhere if she asked.
Now we are laying in some random field. The grass is wet and there's too many flowers but she's smiling and I can't find it in myself to complain.
She's laying next to me on her back, facing the sky and moving her arms as she talks. I'll be honest and say I have no idea what's she talking about. I stopped paying attention two minutes ago and have instead spent the time admiring her.
The way her nose dips, how she pinches her brows when she doesn't know how to organise her words. The way her lips move furiously when talking about something she enjoys, always seeming to be smiling a little. How they even somehow stay a little tilted when she's frowning. How she still manages to look insanely fucking beautiful when frowning.
"Beautiful isn't it?" She turns her head to face me, grinning and I can't seem to breathe correctly. It doesn't seem very important right now, not when she's smiling at me like this. "Insanely."
She chuckles and rolls her eyes, her cheeks heating. "You're not even looking." Rolling my eyes at her I glance towards the sky, blink at it twice then turn back to her.
"Amazing." It comes out more sarcastically than I intended, she doesn't seem to mind.
She looks back towards the sky, I do too.
Then she's holding her hand up and pointing into the air. "Look they're forming a cat."
I look towards where she's pointing but all I can see is a blob of stars. Rolling my eyes I blink up at the sky, try to see what she's seeing, fail and turn to face her. "All I see is stars Elora."
She rolls her eyes at me, still grinning, still taking the breathe out of me, and shifts a little closer so our shoulders touch. She points again and I still only see stars.
"Try and find an image." The words are whispered, and calm and smooth and flow with the wind. And I like it here, with her. It's relaxing and calm and anything but chaotic.
She's anything but chaotic. She talks a lot and is little hyper on times but she's not chaotic. At least not in a bad way. I like it. I like her. I think she might be my best friend.
Looking towards the sky I try and see some shape, anything but I don't. Not wanting to feel like a failure I point my hand up anyways. "Those are forming a dick."
She squints at the sky, laughs, throws her arm out and whacks me in the stomach. Still laughing. "That's not what I meant."
She's still laughing when I shrug. Then she gasps shifts impossibly closer and is raising her hand again. "Look do you see that?"
I see nothing but stars. "Look it's right there." She waves her hand a little. "They're forming an infinity symbol see?"
Looking towards where she's pointing I stare, hard, squint my eyes a little and can sort of make out the shape she's describing. "Yeah I see it."
Turning her head to face me I stare at her. She's grinning. My lungs don't seem to work. "Do you know what it means?"
"Not a clue." Probably fate. Maybe even soulmates. Not that I'd ever say that out loud. "Neither do I."
