Selcouth
(adj.) unfamiliar, rare, strange, and yet marvellous

-Elijah-

"Finally, did you stop for a make out session on the way?"

Daze bends down to take her shoes off. I stand next to her, giving Dalton the middle finger.

She stands up again, avoiding looking at me as she walks towards the group. Cheeks heated.

I follow along after her, grabbing her hand.

Casey raises his eyebrows suggestively, Meeks rolls his eyes and the girls give each other knowing looks.

Elora goes to stand next to blondie, dropping my hand. My fingers strain to follow her. I control myself, standing next to Casey, directly opposite her.

"That's wasn't exactly a no." Casey nudges me, I scowl at him. Glancing at Elora to see her eyes on her feet as she digs her toes in the sand, cheeks ablaze.

She's thinking about it, I'm thinking about it.

Our moment. The way our noses brushed, how my breath seemed to quicken and stop all in one. How I stumbled over myself, turned inside out, and exploded into nothingness when she backed away.

Our almost kiss.

My cheeks heat. I avoid everyone's gaze, glaring at the ground, wishing to sink beneath the sand. But I'm too slow and I know everyone's seen my reaction because the guys are laughing and slapping me on the back and making weird noises and the girls are squealing and whispering with each other.

"Nothing happened." I look directly at her as I say it, staring into those chocolate brown eyes of hers, hoping to convey my message.

Nothing happened. But it could've. And I wish it did.

I'm sure she understands. She smiles at me. My heart flutters. We both look away.

"Sure it didn't." Valentin slaps me on the back before beginning to lay down a blanket. Meeks narrows his eyes before helping him.

I roll my eyes, take a seat next to Daze. Our fingers brushing.

She doesn't pull away this time.

Everyone seems to have the idea to sit in a circle. Dalton opposite me, Meeks to his right, the girls to Elora's left. Valentin and Casey filling the spaces in between.

Blondie stands up, pulls her top over her head, shrugs out of her shorts, left in a grey bikini. Meeks shamelessly ogles at her. So does Valentin. But the latter has more subtly, only offering a few spare glances rather than shamelessly staring like she's the only thing around.

The other girl, whose name I also can't remember, but she's got blue eyes so let's go with blue. She follows suit, left in a green bikini.

Nils makes a point not to stare at her. Trying too hard.

I stare at Elora, wondering if she's about to strip too. My hands turn into fist and my gaze moves to Meeks. If he so much as even looks at her—

Daze stands.

Casey pulls his t-shirt over his head, left in his blue shorts. The rest of the guys follow suit.
