Gwen POV:

I watch in horror as Miles starts falling from the top of the building. I immediately jumped off to save him. It's not the tallest building, but it's high enough for him to get seriously hurt if I don't catch him. I jump off, and stretch my hand out as far as possible. Fear consumes me as I wonder... What if I can't catch him? How badly injured will he be? No. I can't think like that. I will get him. He'll be fine. I look at Miles's face. He seems.... Unconcerned? We keep falling, and I watch as his face slowly turns to shock. A feeling of dread rises in my chest as I realize..... Miles expected me to catch him... He expected me to catch him..... But no.... I feel tears start to form in my eyes as yet again.... My inability to be stronger has cost me another person I care about.....

"YOUR WEB SHOOTERS!" My body seems to instinctively snaps back in control as reflexes return to me. I web Miles's chest, and I pull him into me as I grab him in a 1 armed hug, while my other hand shoots another web at a nearby building. As we were about to crash into the street below, I pulled with my other hand and we launched at the building wall. "That was close...." I say to myself. I can't believe the panic I was in made me forget one of the most routine skills I have as spider-woman. I hear Miles gasp for air as he says "Ye.... very close. Can you let me go now?" I look back at Miles to realize that I was holding him tightly.... Very tightly.... I feel heat rising to my cheeks as I release him, though making sure he sticks to the wall properly this time. "Thanks..." he says. I nod at him as I grab him again, and we swing onto a nearby roof where we take a seat on the roof.

We sat there for a while in silence. Then I say "We should work on your sticking." He chuckles "You think?" I roll my eyes, though I know he can't see them. Classic Miles and his sarcasm. It's part of him and his lame jokes. It's annoying, but at the same time.... endearing. "I'm serious though. You could've been really hurt. What if I wasn't there?" He flashes me a smile. "But you were there." I feel heat rise up my cheeks... That was so cheeky..... I can't even look at his face...His smile just warms my insides....

"Where should we start then?" Miles asks. Thank god he broke the silence. I didn't know what to say. "I guess..... We can continue our work on you web crawling" His eyes light up in excitement again. He's really like a golden retriever at times. So excited, so childlike... So adorable.... GWEN! STOP! NOT LIKE THAT! I shake myself off my mental argument and watch as Miles climbs up the wall again. I slowly joined him, eyes trained on him, web shooters at the ready. But he doesn't seem to need it. He confidently moves around, climbing higher and higher. As we get to the top, I give him a polite clap in congratulations. He fake bows for it, and then gives me that look where I can tell he's gonna do something stupid. "Miles....?" I ask. But Miles doesn't respond. He's not looking at me. He's looking at..... The building rooftop over there? Wait... surely not. "Here I go!" I look up in surprise as Miles starts making a run for a long-jump. "NO! MILES!" I shout. I shoot a web at him, but I miss. Miles makes a jump..... And to my relief, as well as my surprise.... He makes the jump... pretty comfortably. The landing was a bit rough, but he gave me a thumbs up. I swing over, and watch as he winces after touching his knee. He notches my look, and turns away from me. "Miles....? What's going on?" "I'm ok" he replies. But I can hear the pain he's in. After a bit of back and forth, he finally gives up and shows me. I gasp as he shows me a bloody knee. "You stupid boy....." I mutter as I web up his wound. I'll have to bring him somewhere to get it patched up. "You got some first aid stuff at your place?" I ask. He nods at me.

I patch up his wound slowly with the first aid kit provided by Miles. Turns out his mom is an ER surgeon. "Never do that again. Don't worry me like that." Miles's eyes seem to widen at the comments, and looks away for a second. I give him a confused look, but I guess it's nothing. "There. All patched up. And again, don't do that again. That's an order" Miles smiles though. "But it was cool right? Impressed?" I sigh. "It was impressive....." I respond; then I slap him "But also really stupid." "Ow...." He says. "Omg! You ok?" I forgot to hold back... like obviously I didn't use all my strength but spider-strength..... Is strong. Miles smirks. "Made you look" he said, though I can see a pinkish part of the face where I hit him. Even in pain he's making jokes..... "I should go," I say. Looking at Miles.... He seems almost... disappointed? "I'm free to continue working out on the weekend." He says. Although I'm happy he wants to continue working out, I'm also hurt. He had no intention to work things out with me.... The Gwen me.... Not yet at least. "We'll see" I mutter as I shoot a web through the window. "Laters" I say as I swing out. I take one last look as I swing out, to see Miles lightly waving...

That's all for chapter 19.  It's a bit of a filler, but I think it's necessary. For anyone waiting for a big surprise or something, oh it's coming. Just you wait.

P.S. I won't be posting daily for a few days, I'll still be posting but just not daily. Don't worry, I'll still be around, and writing this story is definitely fun. I just wanna slow down a bit, cuz with school and everything, I'm just tryna prevent burnout later on.
