y/n, issei, hanamaki, and iwaizumi remained at the l/n and matsukawa residence. oikawa ended up having to leave early so he could watch his nephew for the day. iwaizumi was going to leave as well but got distracted by a charizard spawning in pokémon go. he ended up just staying after that since it began to rain heavily.
he sat on the couch as y/n leaned back against one of his arms, both of them holding a nintendo switch. they ran around in animal crossing completing random tasks, occasionally showing one another their screens each time they caught a pale chub. and whenever they did catch one, they placed it in a random corner of their island along with the other ones. they called it "the oikawa garden" (it's just filled with fish tanks and trash).
it was even raining in-game as well, so y/n's animal crossing character frolicked around the grey-skied lands while twirling a cute umbrella. doing this, she remembered an idea that once popped into her head. an idea that she'd soon make a reality.
abruptly getting up from her spot on the couch, y/n put her nintendo switch down in the place where she previously sat, leaving behind a confused iwaizumi. he watched with furrowed eyebrows as the girl quickly pulled on a hoodie and beelined to the front entrance of her home.
"y/n, what are you doing?" he already missed her warm presence next to him, wishing she would quickly come back and use him as a pillow again.
"i've always wanted to do this." y/n's eyes sparkled with excitement at the thought of going outside in the rain. she'd frequently see people dancing or laying out in the rain on pinterest or in movies, and it looked like a dream. however, she never got around to living that wish as kita always made sure she stayed inside to not catch a cold or anything. party pooper.
realization hit iwaizumi when y/n stepped into her shoes and reached for the doorknob. he swiftly stood up from the couch and made wide steps toward her. "wait, Y/N-!" he called out, reaching to grab her sleeve, but she was already out the door and in contact with the weather. the rain wasn't so intense that you'd get pummeled by it, but just enough so that you'd get considerably soaked. the boy watched from the doorway in amused concern as he watched the girl twirl around in the middle of the empty street.
"are you joining me or what??" she yelled at the boy. he only sighed and shut the door. y/n went back to spinning around and kicking puddles until the door opened once more. out came running iwaizumi still in the process of pulling on a sweater. once he finished doing so, he grabbed y/n's sleeve and turned her to face him. he reached behind her and swept her h/c-hair to one side of her shoulders, then pulled up her hood that had fallen off at one point.
