it was the day before the match, and the two first years were still working hard. currently, the vice-captain and newest manager were watching the younger students practice with one another. suga leaned on y/n's shoulder as they watched, once again peeling oranges. the door opened from behind to reveal a singing tanaka. y/n glanced over her shoulder and greeted him.
"hey, suga, y/n! thank you," he mumbled, grabbing the orange that his manager had offered him. "how long have those two been at it?"
"it's been... fifteen minutes since y/n and i got here."
"fifteen minutes straight?"
suga nodded as the girl hummed a confirmation.
"ehh??"
y/n took mental note of hinata's abilities. he had stamina like a bitch. clumsy at times, sure, but bro was speedy. they watched as kageyama sent the ball over hinata's head, shouting a "take that!"
"wow, bad character! how's he supposed to get that??" tanaka exclaimed.
"hinata's athleticism has been amazing since junior high. it's not just that, though. i feel like he has the fortitude to become a winner."
"saved," y/n mumbled, following their movements closely. they watched hinata dive for the ball and manage to send it flying back in kageyama's direction.
"he saved it. that's amazing, hinata!" tanaka cheered.
y/n watched as kageyama moved his hands to toss, "wah, look," she pointed at the first year waiting for the ball.
"a toss??"
"kageyama tossed to him?" suga questioned as he stopped leaning on y/n's shoulders.
"hinata is too worn out to spike it, though..."
y/n watched a smile grow on hinata's face, which made her smile as well, "don't worry, that's what he's been waiting for." the ginger zoomed up to the net and spiked the ball to the other side, all while still wearing a huge grin on his face (his face is the cutest thing in this scene like i simply cannot).
