**Brooklyn's pov**
Something about the fact that one single sentence could create utter chaos on the internet shocked me. The way that one single sentence, a compilation of twelve-words, sent my name and the term "old friend" trending on Twitter for the next twenty-four hours.
It was my fault.
Being surrounded by my members made me completely forget about the fact that we were on a live stream. When Chaewon noona read out a comment asking if we have been taking a break from idol work, I just spoke. I didn't think.
Almost as soon as the words were completely out of my mouth Yunjin and Kazuha smacked my arm. That's what finally set in on what I had just said.
So I wasn't surprised when a manager quickly came into the room and pulled me out of the room. He quickly dragged me to the publicists office and sat me down.
One sentence led into a two hour conversation after being ordered to divulge my relationship with him. After everything was out in the air it was decided that we would just let everything blow over.
With the climate around male and female idols hanging out together privately, it was not wise for us to announce that I was friends and going to spend time with another idol at their company building. A male one at that.
So that's what left me doing what I was doing right now. Sitting alone in my room in the dorm doing everything that I could possibly think of to distract myself from the buzz around my name and the rumors of the fans guessing who the guy could be.
After turning to the next empty page of my notebook to continue writing the lyrics for one of the songs I was writing. It was a hopeful single, but I wasn't expecting anything because it has some uh- strong language in it. There was a slight knock on my door distracting me from writing.
With the door opening and seeing Chaewon noona herself peek her head in, I sat down my pen and grinned, "Hi.".
She waved smally before coming in, closing the door behind her of course, and sitting down on the edge of my bed. I could tell that she felt bad for reading that specific comment. Sighing, I reached over and pulled her into my body, "It is not anyone else's fault but my own. I've been in this industry long enough to have known better." I reassured the girl.
Chaewon sighed before looking down at my notebook, "What are you writing about?" she questioned with a slight smile.
Pulling my notebook closer to her, I let her eyes wander over the lyrics that I had written on the page. Whenever I would write songs and the girls would like to see them, it was almost an immediate response that I would just show them the pages.
When the girl was done she looked up at me with slight tears in her eyes, "Yah! Why do you write such beautiful songs!" she exclaimed before leaning off of my body.
Laughing I watched as she walked out of my room while closing the door behind her.
It was a few seconds after she left, when my phone started ringing with a phone call. Well rather a facetime call from the one person I don't even know if I should be talking to. Mark Lee.
Releasing a slight breath from my lungs, I clicked the accept button and tried to quickly fix my hair so it didn't look like I had barely even brushed it this morning. Smiling when I saw him laying down in what I assumed was his room. He was finally taking a break.
Across the "kpop" realm it wasn't a secret that the entirety of NCT was overworked, but especially Mark and his member Haechan.
"Hi." I smiled smally.
He slightly readjusted himself in his bed before smiling to himself, "You could never stop talking about me when we were little, it doesn't seem like that has changed." he smirked.
Letting out a quick scoff I shook my head, "Can you shut up before I go message Haechan. 'Cause I will Lee Min Hyung." I threatened with squinted eyes.
Mark's eyes widened and started shaking his head, "Do not do that." he let out a slight breath, "I would never hear the end of it. Ever." he quickly said to me.
Even though he wasn't the maknae anymore, he was still treated like it. Just like me with my own members. "You know at some point the fans will find out about our friendship, how do you think you'll feel about it?" Mark questioned just thinking out loud.
It was a good question. Fans are sleuths on the internet they can find out anything that they want to. With my parents being very open on social media, mainly Instagram, it only took one throwback post about me to show a young Mark in the background. Or usually right next to me with some goofy grin on his face.
Clearing my throat lightly I looked up at the ceiling, "I really don't know- I mean my childhood photos are everywhere it's a shock that they haven't figured it out yet. You and that goofy grin look the exact same." I laughed.
Me and Mark spent the next hour on Facetime with each other before one of his members stumbled into his room yelling something about the trash not getting taken out on time.
It was freaking hilarious, but when I saw his cheeks flush red I stopped laughing.
Ever since Mark and I were kids, he could only take so many jokes about his embarrassment before he started turning it into some self-deprecating and being insecure.
"Hey..." he looked up at me through his eyelashes, "You know that I really like your cheeks when you laugh. They look so perfect and squishy." I muttered.
His eyes widened before he mumbled that he really had to go deal with his hyungs. I waved goodbye to him before hanging up the call.
Mark Lee was going to be the death of me.
