THE WINTER FETE IS TONIGHT. If I'm being honest I'm quite nervous about it. The only thing that changed about my kefta is that it's white now, the designs are now gold with a hint of orange and there's still a pheonix on my back.
We let out a laugh at Marie's story while hanging in Alina's room getting ready for the fete.
"I panicked. Nobody's ever asked to spend time with me before."Marie defends.
"So you set him on fire?"i chuckle giving her a look.
"It was an accident."She reasons. I look at Alina in laughter.
"The squallers had to launch him right into the lake."Nadia laughs. I let out a chuckle and cover my face with my hands.
"So, set ablaze, then nearly drowned. You've made quite a first impression."Alina laughs.
Marie groans and covers her face, blushing which cause us to laugh more.
The door than bursts open and in walks Genya and some servants.m
"Hi, Genya." We all greet her. She smiles at us and looks at Marie.
"They need you for the kefta."Genya tells her. Marie widens her eyes panicking, she turns to Nadia.
"No, I'm so late. Nadia, come one."She urges before running out of the room, while Nadia went to follow her staying calm. She gives me and Alina a smile and we return on back. Genya walks towards us, i raise my hands up with a smile plastered across my face.
"Thank all saints I got here in time."Genya breaths out eyeing our hairs. Alina and I laugh and I turn to the mirror.
"I think they tried their best, actually."I tell Genya reaching my hand up to touch my messy hair that was supposed to be in a bun.
"That's a terrifying thought."Genya waves her hand around. My hair gets fixed into a nice braided bun with a few strands of hair hanging in front of my face, while Alina's hair drops down. I stare at my hair in awe. Me and Alina share a look before walking towards Genya who hands Alina a mirror.
"Still nothing from Mal."Genya says and Alina's smile falters. I stare at Alina and squint my eyes. Who's mal? Alina sits down feeling a bit sad and in thought.
"You don't have to update me anymore. I'm sure you've got enough on your plate."Says Alina. I stare at the two. Alina than fixes her gaze to her mirror while Genya hands me one so i could look at myself.
"You have no idea. The queen, Her royal bossiness, Tatiana, has absolutely no regard for my need to sleep."Genya looks Alina. I can't help but feel bad for Genya. I've always knew her job was hard working for the queen. "She woke before dawn and demanded I touch up her face before the rest of her team arrived."She continued, turning to me. I raise an eyebrow and she runs her hand over my lips a reddish colored lipstick splattered on my lips, she gives me a wink making me blush, I press my lips together watching as she does the same to Alina.
It's dead silent for a moment while I pick up a mirror to glance at my lips. A thought pops up on my head catching Alina off guard.
"I can accidentally blind her in the demonstration, if you like."the words fall out of my mouth catching me of guard. Genya and Alina chuckles and i purse my lips embarrassed and look down. "Please don't tell the queen I said that."I mumble.
"Don't worry, I won't."Genya glances at me with a smile. I return my smile back before she turns to Alina holding a blue thing. Alina frowns.
"What's that for?"She asks curious. Genya gives her a look.
"Relax your eyebrows."She tells her. I watch as she runs her thumb over her eyebrow putting blue eye shadow. "I don't mind, actually. It tends to shift the King's gaze in her direction."She says before picking up the same item but instead it's purple. "At least until nightfall." She puts the eye shadow on my eye lids.
I stare at her for a moment. What does she mean shift the King's gaze? I thought. Genya glances at both Alina's and eye shadow before shaking her head with a hum. She removes the eye shadow from my eye before doing the same to Alina's. I could sense the tension in the room.
"Let's just say the fold is gone. What then?"Alina asks. "Ravka will be revived. The second army won't be as necessary. Grisha will have new opportunities. Maybe some Grisha's will have the chance to return to their family." Alina glances at me. My lips parted and I stare down at my hands. Genya looks up at the ceiling thinking about Alina's words, Genya then let's out a chuckle.
"I've always wanted to travel the world. See the true sea. Visit the library at the university of ketterdam."I let out a chuckle. "I've lived in Ketterdam almost my whole life and yet I never once visited there. I even thought of maybe traveling to Scandinavia with Jordie and my friends."i tell them rethinking back to when I was with my friends telling them about how I wanted to visit Gothenburg. I let out a sigh, "but yet could never happen."I mumble mostly to myself. It's silent for a moment before Alina spoke up.
"Maybe one day, things will change, and you could reunite with your friends."Alina spoke and I glance up at her. "There's always still hope."She tells me and a small smile appears on my face.
"And than you could visit that library with Jordie, Kaz and inej and probably get a book boyfriend."Genya teases and I slap her shoulder, Alina lets out a laugh shaking her head. I give Genya a look and she shrugs. I roll my eyes looking away before a smile forms on my face. "It's true though, You could really get a book boyfriend!"
