I HELD ONTO MY NECKLACE TIGHTLY, ANXIETY STARTING KICK IN. The winter fete was just a couple of hours away and I was starting to pace about my room in my kefta anxiously. I was waiting for Genya to burst inside my bedroom doors with information about any guests named Kaz Rietveld, Inej ghafa and Jordie Rietveld. I bite my lip as I continue to pace around while zoya watches my every move.
"Breath, Irina,"Zoya spoke and I turn to her.
"Why is Genya taking so long?"i question anxiously, Zoya let's out a sigh and i continue to pace.
"Maybe because she also had to deal with other things before checking the guest list, who knows maybe she's on her way here right now, so take my word Irina and breath before you pass out on the floor, better yet burn the palace down."She gives me a look, I raise an eyebrow at her and cross my arms.
"I know how to control my powers now, Flames will no longer come out with my emotions."I tell her before holding my palm out channeling my energy to my right hand to creat fire. She rolls her eyes.
"Yeah, but can you control them fully?"She questions catching me in thought, the flames on my hand disappears and I feel my energy flow away. I place my hand back to my side.
"No."I huff.
Knock knock.
Two knocks on the door immediately catches my attention. I glance at Zoya before rushing towards the door ignoring the look on zoya's face.
I immediately open the door taking Genya in by surprise, she moves her head back and raises her eyebrows.
"Someone looks eager."She spoke walking into the room, i back up watching as she closes the door.
"So, are they on the guest list?"i ask eagerly and she turns to me sympathetically.
"I checked through all the guest list and couldn't find they're names, I'm sorry."She apologizes and the hopeful look on my face fades.
"Oh."I murmur disappointedly, seeing my sadden look hands are placed on my shoulder giving them a squeeze in reassurance.
"It'll be okay, Irina, after everything is over, I promise you that we will look in ketterdam for your friends."Zoya spoke softly. I slowly nod my head before letting out a breath.
"If only they would be here."i turn my head to zoya giving her a tight lipped smile before turning to Genya.
"Thank you for checking at least, I really appreciate that. Even though there was no sign of there names on there, I think I'll be alright."I force a smile, it's silent for a few moments before I clear my throat.
"Anyways, I should probably go practice my powers before I end up loosing control and burning the whole palace down."I said before pursing my lip, I quickly turn around ignoring the look on Zoya's and Genya's face and walk out of the room.
Once I'm out of their sight I press my back up against the wall. I close my eyes and suck in a breath before exhaling. I really thought that this couldn't been the chance i would reunite with them. That I could possibly escape with them and travel far away from the little palace until everything is over.
