Alright, two successors want to end on-going war in Heaven and Hell. The only way for this to end, is for the two to get married as a sign of peace. After finding that out, they wanted to deny, but had no choice.
The two decided to do it either way. They got along, but never had romantic feelings for each other. One of them secretly had a partner who soon crashes the whole wedding. The two successors are surprised.
The ruler/god of Heaven was not so pleased. Hell's ruler/god is just as surprised as the the successors.
Ruler/God of Heaven is a piece of crap, but is willing to make good sacrifices if seen fit. God/Ruler of Hell is kind-hearted soul who miserably screwed up and is trying to make hell more peaceful and believes that everyone can change.
The successors are next in line. Doesn't matter if they are related by the ruler/god or not. The current ruler/god get to choose who they want to continue their legacy, blood or not.
The partner of the successor can be known to the rulers, but they don't find out about the relation until the wedding. If they are dating the successor of Heaven, the ruler will threaten to banish them to Hell, but if it's the other ruler, they won't do too much to interfere.
The ruler of Hell wish they saw another way through this, but marriage felt like the only way and feels bad about making the successor marry someone they didn't want to. Successor of hell may choose to forgive their ruler or not when they find out that both parties agreed to even though Hell did it somewhat unwillingly.
