I can't believe I'm a mom. I am exhausted, sore, bloodied, and bruised, but it was all worth it, and I would do it all again in a heartbeat. I have just come out of what felt like the best shower EVER! As I come back into my room. I am met with the most heartwarming sight ever. Brendon is shirtless and is cuddling our little girl on his chest. "It's called Kangaroo care," he says to me, smiling. "The midwife says it helps to regulate the baby's body heat and heart rate."
"Oh, Bren, you both look so adorable." I can feel tears threatening to spill once more. "I am so lucky to have you both."
"Carly, I can't stop looking at her or smiling. You have given me the best gift in the world." She's starting to get a little restless, though. I think she might be hungry. " As I get settled into bed, the midwife returns to help with getting her latched onto my breast for her first feed. It's fiddly at first, but we soon get the knack of it. I look at Brendon, who seems entranced by everything that's happening. "Hey Bren....... we need to think of a name for her.....do you have any suggestions?"
"Do you have the list of names we liked with us?
"Yes, I put it in the baby's bag. Can you get it out, please?
"Ok, what about Sofia Leilani Urie? Or Nova Skylar Urie?....."
"They're both nice. How about Skaila Rose Urie? I've changed the spelling of Skylar slightly. I think it reminds me of your hawaiin heritage. "Carly, I love it. It really suits her, and the spelling is unique just like her." She has just finished feeding, and Brendon takes her from me to burp her. "Happy birthday, Skaila Rose." he says, giving her a little kiss. "I think she likes her name, Carly. She just smiled at me!" He says excitedly. I can't help but laugh
"I think that was wind, Bren. She's too young to smile yet..., do you think we should face time Pete and Meagan and let them know shes been born?"
**Pete's POV**
I can't believe Carlyn's in Labour. I know Brendon was going to come clean tonight, and he had prepared himself for the outfall, but I guess their baby had other plans. I called everyone after I spoke to Brendon, and we are all now patiently waiting to hear if they have a boy or girl. I'm going for a girl as is Gérard, Tyler and Dan the rest seem to think it will be a boy. It's been 4 1/2:hours since Brendon called. Suddenly, my phone starts ringing.
"Hey, Brendon, is everything OK? Is the baby here?." I ask excitedly. "Hey, Pete," he says quietly, zooming out his camera. "I'd like to introduce you to Skaila Rose Urie, born at 23.47 weighing 7 pounds and 3 ounces."
"Aww, Brendon, she's absolutely gorgeous. How's Carlyn?"
"Exhausted, she's finally fell asleep. It was amazing to watch her being born. Carlyn was amazing. I never appreciated what it took to bring a child into the world. Can you let everyone know? We should be home sometime later today. I'll text you and let you know when. Im going to put Skaila down as she has fallen asleep, and I'm gonna try and get some sleep as well. "
"No problem, Brendon, congratulations again, Dad, " he says, hanging up the phone.
Later on that day we arrived home
"Welcome, Home Skaila." I say as we enter the house. "It's hard to believe that this time yesterday she wasn't born. Now, here we are our own little family." Brendon looks so happy and content carrying Skaila. I honestly didn't think it would be possible to fall even more in love with my husband, but he looks so damn hot just now.
"Carlyn, are you ok? You're kinda just standing there in a daze. "
"I was admiring the view Bren, carrying a baby really suits you." I smile
"Ooh, does the lady like what she sees?" he jokes, putting Skai in her moses basket. "Hey babe, go lie down and rest wilst she's sleeping. I can wake you when she needs feeding. You're recovering as well.
"I think I will, I can barely keep my eyes open. Love you, Bren."
"Love you more, Carly.

**Time Skip a few days later*
Skai is such a good baby. She seems happy and content, and she's definitely a daddy's girl. Brendon can't seem to put her down. She loves lying propped up on his chest snuggled into his shoulder. This morning, when he had to leave for work, I literally had to push him out the door. I am getting Skai ready as I'm taking her over to the rehearsal space to surprise Brendon and introduce her to everyone before we head out on the road. We need to finalise a few things for the tour bus for skai. As I pull into the parking lot, I see Pete pulling up as well. He races over to help me out of the car. Who knew one little person needed so much stuff whenever they leave the house.
"Hey Carlyn, let me help you. Does Brendon know you're here?"
"No, it's a surprise. I let Nicole know we were coming, so she was organising things here for us."
"I can't believe how tiny Skai is. She looks just like you."
"Thanks Pete, she's definitely got her fathers lungs, though. When she cries, you can hear her halfway up the neighbourhood." I joke.
"Come on, let's get you two inside."
As we enter the rehearsal space, we can see all the guys packing up their instruments ready for tour. Brendon is sitting with his back to us at the piano lost in his music. Skai seems mesmerised by the sound but she suddenly recognises her daddy's voice when he starts to sing.
The moment you arrived, they built you up
The sun was in your eyes
You couldn't believe it
Riches all around, you're walking
Stars are on the ground
You start to believe it
Every face along the boulevard is a dreamer just like you
You looked at death in a tarot card, and you saw what you had to do
But nobody knows you now
When you're dying in LA
And nobody owes you now
When you're dying in LA
When you're dying in LA
When you're dying in LA
The power, the power, the power
Oh, the power, the power, the power
Of LA
Nights at the chateau
Trapped in your sunset bungalow
You couldn't escape it, yeah
Drink of paradise
They told you. "Put your blood on ice
You're not gonna make it. "
Every face along the boulevard is a dreamer just like you
You looked at death in a tarot card, and you saw what you had to do
But nobody knows you now
When you're dying in LA
And nobody owes you now
When you're dying in LA
When you're dying in LA
When you're dying in LA
The power, the power, the power
Oh, the power, the power, the power
Of LA
I am unaware that I have tears rolling down my cheeks. (These bloody post pregnancy hormones) Everyone has stopped what they are doing to listen to Brendon play. He's suddenly aware of the little noises that Skai is making. He turns around, quickly making a beeline for us. "Carly, why didn't you tell me you were coming down here?"
"I wanted to surprise you and let Skai meet her Aunt and Uncles."
Everyone is so taken with Skai. Mike and Dan are arguing over who's holding her next. As Brendon wraps his arms around me, he laughs. "I don't think we need to worry about Skai on tour. I think we are going to have plenty of helpers."
