~*Wei Wuxian's POV*~

After spending a good portion of my morning with Jin Ling at the archery range, I have noticed he has really good skills. I gave him some advice and some corrections to improve his performance but all in all, he was good. After spending time with him, I went to go see how Lan Zhan was doing with Jingyi and Sizhui. Lan Zhan was teaching them how to improve chord assassination. These two boys were taught well already and their skills will only improve with time and patience.

"These juniors from the future are very talented," I heard someone say from behind me.

I turned and saw Zewu Jun, "Hello Zewu Jun," I greeted, "I am also quite impressed, but if they are our sons, it only makes sense that they are highly skilled."

"That is true," he said and looked at me, "you can call me Xichen you know. You do not have to be so formal around me. I am to be your brother-in-law in the future."

I giggled, "that is true," I said and turn to him, "I think you and I should hang out sometime. I'm sure Lan Zhan would like it if we got along."

"I do not see why we would not get along," Xichen said and turned to Lan Zhan, "Wangji, I am going to borrow your fiancé for a few minutes."

Lan Zhan nodded, "better be in one piece the next time I see him," he threatened.

I laughed and went over to him and hugged him, "I'll see you back at the Jingshi later." He nodded and kissed me before letting me go. I then left with Xichen and went to his place for a bit, "what did you want to talk about?" I asked joining him at the table.

"I realized that we haven't really talked much since everything had been said. I know you, Wangji and the Juniors are going to get the iron soon and I actually asked my father if I could go with you. It would give me time to spend with Jingyi," he explained.

"We could always use extra help," I said, "I am sure if I was in the boys' timeline, I'd be all for going about it alone but since I have been with Lan Zhan, it's like something in me changed. Growing up with in the Jiang Sect, I always had to do things on my own. I would suffer Yu Ziyuan's wrath alone and I'd take it for her children. I realized that I was probably a coward for putting up with her for so long."

Xichen shook his head, "you are not a coward. Being in that kind of environment can be hard to escape from, especially if it is one you grew up with. You are safe here. You have the respect of everyone here and the disciples already see you as one of us. You are already a part of the family even though you are not married to Wangji yet," he said, "and I am actually glad he has you. Seeing him smile is something I've wanted for so long."

I nodded, "I have gotten him to talk to me about some things. About your parents and his situation with your mother...it was hard to hear but I know now that it tells me that Lan Zhan is a stubborn person."

He laughed, "he may be stubborn, but only when he is dead set on something. If he wants to do something he will do it. If he wants to marry you, he will. It's not a matter of if anymore though...it is a matter of when."

"How do you feel about all this?" I asked.

"I am actually okay," he replied, "even when I found out I adopted a kid because he lost his parents, I was okay. Jingyi seems like a good kid."

"Honestly, they all seem that way," I said, "they have been sharing some things about what happened after I died. How I come back thirteen years later and how Lan Zhan suffered so much pain just waiting for me...I can't even imagine putting him through that."

"Falling in love changes a person," Xichen said, "from what was said, Wangji loves you very much. I know that Wangji has never been good with communication, but his actions are very louder than his words."

I nodded in agreement, "the amount of times he has reassured me about the events that are coming, I believe it. Lan Zhan helped me when no one else did. He may not admit it but I feel like he has been watching over me since I stepped into Cloud Recesses. It was only when Sizhui appeared did he finally realize what he wanted. It took me a minute to come to terms with it but I need him just as much as he needed me."

"I believe that," Xichen said, "how are you feeling about it all?"

"Well, at first I was so overwhelmed. When Sizhui said that Lan Zhan and I were his parents, I panicked. There were thoughts swarming my head telling me I am not worthy of him. He deserves someone else. He proved me wrong when he helped me get away from the Jiangs. There was guilt that filled me up as I noticed a lot of future events happened and they involved me. It was Lan Zhan who told me that it hasn't happened in this timeline yet so it was useless to be guilty. Even then, I shouldn't be guilty because it was never my fault."

"He is not wrong," Xichen said, "as it has been proven, with the future in mind, it can always change. We already changed some of it and apparently your shijie is alive again in the other timeline. I think that is important to remember."

"Yeah, I guess so," I said, "how do you feel about not being sect leader right now?"

"It's a bit strange, but I still take the time to sit down with my father and learn some things from him. Almost like an apprenticeship," he answered.

"Now that you have more free time, you should look for a partner. It seems you still have no one in the future," I teased.

He sighed, "sometimes you cannot rush things. Love comes when you least expect it. You should know all about that."

"Oh I do, but I will still help you find someone," I said.

"Good luck with that," he told me.
