Jin Xizuan and Jiang Yanli were making rounds during the banquet to thank the guests for coming. Jiang Yanli was happy to see Wuxian again and went to him first.

"A'Xian, thank you for coming," she said hugging him.

"I wouldn't miss it for the world, Shijie," Wuxian said, "you know that."

"Has anyone given you trouble since you arrived?" She asked.

"Well, your parents keep side eyeing me but that's nothing new," Wuxian replied, "I am ignoring them because this days isn't about them or me, it's about you."

"I am just glad you are here, and I will talk to my father, okay," Yanli told him.

"Lan Zhan and I have a little secret that we wanted to share with you," Wuxian said as he placed his hand on his stomach.

"A'Yuan?" She asked with a smile.

Wuxian nodded, "he's on the way."

"Looks like I need to get moving and get Jin Ling soon," she said with a giggle, "congratulations."

"Take your time. No need to rush these things," Wuxian said and then looked at Jin Zixuan, "take care of her."

"You have my word, Wuxian," Jin Xizuan told him, "we best get to the other guests."

"We will talk again soon," Yanli said.

"Oh, Shijie?" Wuxian called out.

Yanli looked at him, "yes, A'Xian?"

"You should know, your parent's trial is coming soon," Wuxian told her.

"Can you let me know when you have a set date?" She asked.

Wuxian nodded, "I will."

"Thank you," she said and left with Jin Xizuan.

Wuxian let out a sigh and sat back down with Wangji, "that went well," he said.

"You did the right thing by telling her about the trial," Wangji said.

"I know," Wuxian said, "out of all the Jiangs, she is the one who I don't want to hurt. I know this mess between her parents and me is too much for her and she is having a hard time. She won't say it but I can just tell. I don't want to keep hurting her."

"You are not hurting her," Wangji said, "she knows what her mother is like and she has helped you when no one else did. She is going to be okay. Her parents aren't going to get killed, but they need to be punished for what they put you through. It is still affecting you to this day."

"I know, but it still hurts," Wuxian told him.

"It shows you have a better heart than most people. You have empathy and compassion, you have humility," Wangji told him, "it makes you human. Some cultivators tend to throw that away after a while because they forget why they became a cultivator in the first place or they were born into a cultivation family and they lack learning empathy or compassion."

"You were born in a cultivation family," Wuxian told him, "and you still have compassion and empathy for others around you. Your whole family does, your brother and your uncle."

"That is because we are raised differently than most cultivators," Wangji said, "but that doesn't mean some Lan disciples are all like my family, because there are some who lack compassion or empathy."

Wuxian nodded and caught a glimpse of Jiang Cheng, "and there are some who are just born with a stick up their ass."

Wangji looked towards the direction Wuxian was and saw Jiang Cheng. Wangji chuckled and looked back at Wuxian, "that is true," He said, "that's something we can't really do much about. Especially when they are being encouraged to continue that behavior."

"How is it that you and your family are the only people who saw good in me?" Wuxian asked.

"We got to know you," Wangji said, "and your parents and the Lan sect gave been close friends. Yes my uncle might have a bit of a...history with your mother but he still learned to accept you as his nephew-in-law."

Wuxian smiled, "he has come around to accepting me huh."

"There is one thing that my brother and uncle may not have seen in you yet but I surely have," Wangji said.

"What is that?" Wuxian asked.

"Loyalty, trust, and honesty," Wangji replied, "you have a better heart than anyone I've ever met. You carry it on your sleeve and you care about a lot of people, even those you do not know. You are the definition of a true cultivator, Wei Ying."

Wuxian smiled, "you are that same way you know, but you are a bit more difficult to read for others. I've been around you for a long time now. You have the same morals that I do, if not more than me. Maybe we are equal in morality but I know for sure, you are an amazing person," Wuxian said.

Wangji pulled Wuxian into a hug, "I love you, you know that?"

"I love you too," Wuxian replied as he hugged him back.

"Still can't believe the almighty Hanguang Jun chose this bastard as his partner," a man said.

Wangji turned his head to see who spoke and it was Jin Zixuan's cousin, Jin Zixun, "looks like you are lonely and bitter to be commenting on our life. Have you looked into yours?" Wuxian questioned.

"You are just a lowborn bastard, and your parents are gone. Your mother may have been a great cultivator and lived up to her mother's name Sanren, but where does that leave your father, a servant?" Jin Zixun asked.

Before anyone could say anything else, a flash of lightning struck the center of the room and a woman stood where it struck, "you dare insult my daughter, son-in-law, and grandson and his husband?" The woman asked.

"Pft, who are you?" Jin Zixun asked with a scoff.

"Zixun, are you dumb?!" Madam Jin yelled at him, "that is Baoshan Sanren, the woman whose grandson you just insulted!"

"Like this bitch can do anything to me," Zixun said.

Wuxian sighed as he just signed his own doom, "You are going to regret saying that," he warned.

"You can just shut up you bastard!" Zixun yelled.

Just then, Baoshan shoved her hand into Jin Zixun's dantian and pulled out his golden core. She held it in front of him and crushed it in her hand, "you dare say anything else about my grandson?" Baoshan asked.

Zixun shook his head and collapsed to the floor holding his stomach. A couple Jin disciples then carried him out. Wuxian shook his head, "he was warned," he said.

"Anyone else want to say something about my grandson?" Baoshan asked. Everyone was trembling in their seats and just shook their heads. Baoshan then turned to Jiang Fengmian and his wife, "your day is coming soon. Be warned, I may not be as lenient."

"What are you talking about?" Jiang Fengmian asked.

"You don't think I don't know what you have put my grandson through all those years," Baoshan told him, "your time is coming, so you better be prepared!"

And just like that, Baoshan disappeared from the room. Wuxian was shaking a bit and turned more into Wangji's arms, "I feel sick," he said.

"Let me get you to our room so you can rest," Wangji said and looked at his brother, "will that be alright?"

"Go ahead, Shufu and I can deal with everything here," Xichen said.

Wangji nodded and took Wuxian back to their guest room. Wangji prepared a hot bath for Wuxian and then the two relaxed in bed for a while. Wuxian was starting to calm down after the events that just took place. It actually felt good to have someone really stand up for him and fight for him like that. He was now curious on what will happen with the Jiangs when their trial begins.
