As suggested, Wei Wuxian was able to look through some of the books that were with them from the library of Cloud Recesses. Lan Xichen took them all away from the sect when the ambush happened so they were safe. Now Wuxian was sitting at the desk looking through books on finding anything on arrays. The one Jingyi drew was the one that brought him, Sizhui and Jin Ling there but now they needed to reverse the array somehow so they could go home.
Wangji remembered that Wuxian really gets into his work and neglects his health and wellbeing. So he would make sure Wuxian would eat and sleep. Lan Xichen found it amusing to see his brother act this way. He'd watch Wangji literally feed Wuxian like he was a baby just so he had something to eat. He then found it even more amusing when Wangji had to literally pick Wuxian up and carry him to bed as he flailed around like a child.
Jingyi has seen Wei Wuxian like this a couple times so he was used to it, "it's interesting to watch, huh?" He asked Xichen.
"It is," Xichen said, "be thankful they are going through all this to help you get home."
"Oh I am, but it's also entertaining," Jingyi said.
Xichen shook his head, "You are something else."
"But I am still your son," Jingyi told him.
Xichen smiled at the boy and tapped the knuckle of his pointer finger to his forehead, "that you are."
As Jingyi and Xichen were talking, Wuxian started to get agitated about something. Since Wangji was beside him, he pulled him to his lap, "Wei Ying, if you cannot figure it out, do not push yourself," Wangji told him.
"I know," he said and turned to snuggle more into Wangji, "I think I need a break. My head is starting to hurt."
"Did you want me to make you something to help calm your headache?" Wangji asked.
"No, it would require me to move off of you and I do not want to do that," Wuxian said.
Wangji smiled, "Wei Ying, how old are you?"
"XianXian...is three," he said with a soft giggle and snuggled closer to him.
"Are you sure?" Wangji asked, "more like a baby."
"Not a baby," Wuxian replied and pouted out his lip, "I just like being held by you."
Wangji wrapped his arms more around him and placed a kiss on his cheek, "and that is exactly what I am doing right now."
"Then do not move anywhere," Wuxian said.
"I will not," Wangji told him.
Lan Xichen cooed at the exchange before he went to the kitchen to make tea for the two. He felt it would help with Wuxian's headache. As Wuxian cuddled up to Wangji, Wangji and Jingyi started to put the books back into the pouch. As they were doing so, Wuxian spotted a book that intrigued him. He picked it up and saw it was on rare charms and talismans. Wangji let him read it for now.
Wuxian soon found a charm that he noticed that was similar to the Wen Sect's dire owls. You can use this charm on any creature you so choose. Wuxian didn't just want to take a random creature though as they had their own little lives living happy and free. Wuxian saw he could make the charm just by using a piece of the animal like some of its fur or a feather. Wuxian remembered picking up some feathers a while back and looked at them.
He had some feathers of a raven. Using the charm he found and combining it with the feather it created tattoo-like markings on his wrists. Each wrist had a symbol of a raven on it and he then called upon one of them. Two ravens soon appeared out of the tattoo from his arms. Wuxian stared at the two birds sitting there on a wooden perch not far from him. Wuxian realized he now has spiritual companions that could be helpful to him.
"Ugh, should I name them?" Wuxian asked.
"Might not be a bad idea," Wangji said, "you actually pulled that charm off and you did it properly. The way the Wen Sect did it was they took animals from their environment. You basically just created two ravens. So they are spiritually connected to you. It says in the book nothing can kill or harm them as long as you are alive."
"Wow," Wuxian said, "am I going to be in trouble for having them when we return home?"
"No, you two already have a bunch of rabbits to deal with anyway," Xichen said.
Wuxian has called the birds over to sit on his arms. He felt a connection to them and found that the raven residing in his right arm is a female and the one on his left was a male, "the female I think I will go with XingYun (means, nebula, luck, good fortune) and the male will be named TengFei (Soaring High)," he said.
"XingYun and TengFei," Wangji said, "I like them. Good names."Wuxian nodded, "I didn't find out how to make that array but I found out about this charm instead. I bet XingYun and TengFei can be a lot of help. Maybe be my scouts," he said and took them outside. He let the two ravens fly around and he suddenly connected to TengFei, he could see everything from his eyes as if he was the raven himself. The downside, it would leave him vulnerable when he was in this position, "I can see everything he sees, but now I am unable to see where I am."
"That will be where I would come in," Wangji said, "I would be your eyes when you are using them. I will protect you, always."
Wuxian soon came back to reality and looked at Wangji, "can you tell when I am using them like that?" Wuxian asked.
"Your eyes glow red," Wangji replied with a nod.
"So I would have to make sure I am in safe locations when I use them. Maybe while we are here, we can train with them for a bit. Learn how to strategize and fight with them," Wuxian said, "I am going to have to read more on the charm though. I want to learn as much as I can about this."
"We will do this together," Wangji said.
"Did you want a set of ravens or are you okay with just me?" Wuxian asked.
"I think it's okay with just TengFei and XingYun," Wangji answered, "maybe another time I can learn something like this but I think with the ravens it is already a new advantage that we have. We killed the dire owls from the Wen Sect, remember?"
Wuxian nodded, "yes," he said and called the two ravens back to the marks on his arms. They will be there waiting for whenever Wuxian would need them.
