It has been about a week. Wei Wuxian was healing but he has not woken yet. Wangji still had some hope left, only because Wuxian was healing. Wangji felt that if he was healing then he should wake up soon. Lan Xichen had decided to stay until Wei Wuxian woke up. Lan Qiren did not mind handling the sect in the meantime. It also gave Lan Xichen some time to discuss some things with Chifeng Zun.
Sect Leader Jiang Fengmian had arrived at some point to discuss those matters. It was to discuss who would take over as chief cultivator. Chifeng Zun was eventually appointed as chief cultivator and Nie Huaisang would handle more sect duties to lighten his load. It was time that Nie Huaisang learned how to handle politics properly.
Jiang Fengmian soon learned from some gossiping disciples of Wei Wuxian being in the Unclean Realm. He knows he has no right to ask questions because Wuxian left the sect, but he is still worried about him. Jiang Fengmian knew he was a coward when it came to his wife, and he wished he wasn't. He had spent numerous occasions speaking with his sect elders about finding solutions to dealing with her. They just didn't know how at this point. She may be Madam of Lotus Pier but she was not its leader and eventually it will have to be drilled into her head.
Aside from Wangji and Xichen, there were only a few people who were allowed inside Wuxian's room too. Chifeng Zun being it is his sect, his brother Huaisang who has a decent friendship with Wuxian, and Wen Qing who was tending Wuxian's injuries. Even then, the Nie's hardly step in as they don't want to be in the way too much and they wanted to give Wangji his privacy. Wangji had refused to stay in any other room until Wuxian was awake and able to be by his side.
Wangji was alone with Wuxian at the moment. He was sitting at the table in the room with his guqin out and he was playing Wangxian. It was something he had played more often as it was something that helped ease his mind these days. As he was playing, he stopped so suddenly as he thought he heard something. He looked at Wuxian and heard the sound again. Wuxian was moaning softly and his fingers were moving. Wangji got up immediately and called for Wen Qing before moving to sit beside Wuxian.
Wei Wuxian's eyes slowly opened. His mouth was extremely dry but he didn't care. His head felt light and fuzzy, and his sight was blurry and eyes were crusted a bit. He felt a familiar warm hand holding his. Wangji didn't say anything yet as he wasn't sure how Wuxian was doing. He had a bowl of warm water on the nightstand beside him, so he grabbed the cloth and gently wiped Wuxian's eyes to get rid of the crust. Wuxian could then see more clearly. Wen Qing then handed Wangji some water for Wuxian.
Wangji helped Wuxian slowly sit up and gave him some water. After he was situated Wuxian was able to speak, "Lan Zhan?" He asked.
"I am glad you're awake," Wangji said, "You scared me quite a bit."
"I'm sorry," Wuxian said, then looked around, "Where are we?"
"The Nie Sect. It was closest to where we were when we got into trouble. You were badly injured and needed Wen Qing," Wangji explained, "once you are well enough, we can go home."
Wuxian nodded and leaned on Wangji. Wen Qing approached them, "Wei Gongzi, may I check your vitals?"
Wei Wuxian looked up at her and nodded. He held out his arm and let her check him over. She even looked at his wounds. They were healing well and starting to scar already. It's been a week and since Wei Wuxian's golden core was doing fine, he was healing better. Wen Qing then left to get Wuxian a nutritional meal as he needed to eat something.
"How long have I been out?" Wuxian asked.
"A week," Wangji replied.
"A week?" He asked, "are you okay? The juniors?"
"I am doing fine. Better now that you are awake...as for the Juniors, their timeline has changed so much now that they disappeared and have to be reborn...if you can understand that," Wangji explained.
Wuxian nodded, "don't you want to marry first before we have Sizhui?"
Wangji smiled, "I do," he said, "and we will. We will get our son back."
"What about everyone else? The sect? Your Ge?" Wuxian asked.
"Everyone is doing okay," Wangji replied, "just worried about you...Xiongzhang is actually here at the Nie Sect as he is with Chifeng Zun and Sect Leader Jiang on picking a new Chief."
"Uncle Jiang is here?" Wuxian asked, worried as he was not sure how to feel about him right now.
"He hasn't been allowed to come in," Wangji assured him.
Wuxian sighed, "okay."
"Wen Chao is also dead," Wangji told him.
"Dead?" Wuxian asked.
Wangji nodded, "the juniors took care of him while I was helping you...please be careful next time."
Wuxian giggled, "I will try...I don't purposefully go out of the way to get hurt you know."
"Yet you took a sword for me," Wangji said.
"It would have killed you," Wuxian argued as tears started to well up, "I didn't want to die either but I can't lose you Lan Zhan!"
Lan Wangji wasn't expecting Wuxian to get this worked up. Then again, Wuxian has a right to fear losing him. He has lost a lot already and he fears losing more. Wuxian fears being alone. Wangji never wants that for his fiancé.
"You will not lose me," Wangji said, "I will be more careful next time too. Let's make a promise, I promise to be more careful if you promise to do the same."
Wuxian nodded, "I promise," he said and threw his arms around Wangji's neck, "hold me, please?"
Wangji carefully moved Wuxian to his lap and helped him get more comfortable. Wuxian was laying on top of him with his head resting on Wangji's shoulder. Wangji was sitting against the headboard so he was sitting up slightly. Wuxian was just wrapped up around him. He wanted no distance between him and Wangji.
