Chapter 66

As promised, Wei Wuxian was to be extra protected while they were in Lanling. As much as many people respect the members of the Jin sect, they also fear and worry for them. They are becoming more and more corrupt to power and it all has to do with Jin Guangshan. He is always looking for ways to gain power, popularity, money, and control. If there was any new knowledge or gossip about the cultivation world, the Jin Sect was usually one of the first to know.

Though it was turning to be a bit of a bad place, there were still some people who were good enough to pay attention to. Jin Xizuan was a bit arrogant but he wasn't so much like his father. Now that he is getting married, he will be the new leader within a few months. People actually wondered if Jin Guangshan would actually be willing to pass the mantle or not but it seems with his wife around, it might be possible. She has been pushing through his horrible habits for years, and it is all because she loves her son.

The wedding between Jin Zixuan and Jiang Yanli was all prearranged by Madam Yu and Madam Jin. They were both still in the womb when the arrangement began and it was all because the two madams were like sisters to each other. With the Jin Sect alliances with the Jiang Sect, it did give them some new significance. They had more financial support as the Jin Sect was the richest of the sects after the Wen Sect.

The Lan Sect was indeed beyond wealthy but never showed off that wealth as the Jin's have. The Lan Sect uses their money for different purposes such as aiding more of their people than they do with building new infrastructures. They were a bit more in control of the assets they have. The Jin Sect was all too happy to show off their wealth in every form. This wedding was one of those occasions.

As the Lans were now heading to Jin territory, they had planned ahead of time for the sake of Wuxian. They spoke to the healers of the sect and got supplies. Wuxian had on hand talismans to check his food for poison. With him being pregnant and being nervous about being at Lanling, he wanted to be prepared for anything. Wangji was not to leave is side for any reason. If he had to, he would make sure someone who could be trusted to be with him. Lan Xichen and Lan Qiren were both attending this affair too, so it was to say that Wuxian was indeed protected.

Wuxian was actually more concerned about some people he may end up encountering, which is the Jiangs. They do not know that Wuxian and the Lans are planning a trial against them but it doesn't mean that Wuxian couldn't be nervous about it. They could come to know and it could all be disastrous if not handled properly. Baoshan was the surprise of this matter. She will have a part in this trial for harming her grandson and her daughter. She wanted to make sure the Jiangs paid for what they did. For now, everything was to be kept confidential.

Wei Wuxian was next to Wangji, holding his hand as they followed behind Lan Xichen and Lan Qiren into Glamour Hall of the Jin Sect. This is where everyone is to meet. Jin Zixuan and Jiang Yanli had their ceremony done with the two families and the rest of the wedding was to be a banquet to celebrate with the rest of the sects. A lot of the times, the ceremony was more of a family affair and the banquet was to share with everyone else. It was enough for Wuxian anyway. As long as he got to see Yanli. His pregnancy has yet to go public too but he wants to keep that private for as long as possible. It could actually cause more problems from other sects. He wants to share the news with Yanli and maybe he could privately.

Now that the four have arrived, they went to their arranged seating area. Immediately, they began to check their food and drinks of being tampered with. Thankfully, everything was okay so far. They will just have to keep checking throughout the banquet. Each new dish or drink brought over, they will have to check. As they were sitting in their seats, Wuxian could feel eyes on him. He knew who they were and he wasn't going to give them the satisfaction by giving them any attention.

"How are you feeling?" Wangji asked.

"I'm doing okay right now," Wuxian said, "although, something here is making me nauseous. The smell is getting to me and I can't really tell what it is. I think it might be something from the main meal."

"They have yet to serve the main course, but we will check it," Wangji said, "if it gets to be too much, we can head back to our guest room early."

"I know, but I think I am okay right now," Wuxian said, "I would appreciate it the Jiang's would stop staring at us though."

"We can't stop their actions all the time," Wangji said, "once they are dealt with by Baoshan, they won't bother us anymore."

"I know," Wuxian said, "...is it wrong of me to think that all I want if for them to leave me alone? I don't care for compensation at this point, I'm just tired of dealing with them. They are hanging onto old oaths and broken promises. They don't actually want anything to do with me and yet they make it their life's goal to make me feel miserable no matter where I am. I left them long ago. Why can't they leave me alone?"

"I don't know, Love," Wangji said as he took his hand, "I can't answer that as I don't know what they are after. I can tell you this though, is that we will get them to leave you alone. You have my word."

"I know," Wuxian said with a smile, "I know you by now. You don't make false promises."

Wangji brought Wuxian's hand up to his lips and kissed the back of his hand, "I will always keep my promises when you are involved. We promised the heavens, forever, correct?"

Wuxian smiled back at him, "we did, and I couldn't have asked for a better forever partner."

"Hey you two," Lan Xichen said as he intervened, "you are flirting too much at the moment."

"Never enough flirting when it comes to Wei Ying," Wangji said.

Wuxian's mouth dropped open slightly, "Lan Zhan, so bold of you."

"My Didi, is indeed getting very bold," Xichen said.

"Only for my husband," Wangji said.

Wuxian giggled and buried his face into his hands. He was getting flustered by all of Wangji's sweet words, "Lan Zhan, if you keep this up, I am not sure how much more I can take before I faint."

"I will catch you if you fall," Wangji said, "you will be fine."

Wuxian just shook his head and laughed some more. He was glad that he has grown so close to the Lans. They treated him like family. It was something that Wuxian always longed for, family, and he had it now. It was also getting ready to grow as he was currently pregnant. He was glad he has such a good group of people around him. It was proving to others who told him he wouldn't ever have a family wrong. He can have a family and they can love and cherish him as he does the same thing with them.
