"It happened after you left," she says, looking down at her cup of healing remedy. "It was like any normal day, actually. It wasn't romantic or anything. I was training with the other members, and I tripped on nothing, imagine." She gasps, laughing at her fault. "Anyway, Santiago was there to help me."
"I can't believe you're still clumsy after all this time. I thought you'd grow out of it." We both laugh. "I'm happy for you. I'm just sad I had to miss your mating ceremony. I thought I would be there for you, like we always promised," I tell her, remembering our past memories.
"It's okay; I understood your choice to leave." She smiles, but you can see the sadness in her eyes. "Anyway, how is it living a normal life?"
"Honestly, it's really peaceful. I've been alone for so long that it felt natural. Working endlessly to make ends meet, I actually liked being independent. I traveled the world, and I can't tell you how great it was, Addy," I tell her, missing the feeling of being out there.
"I can only imagine. I've only left the country once, and that was for our honeymoon. With Santiago being the second in command, he's always busy, so it's hard to always be away from the pack, although he always makes time for our family."
That's the kind of life I was afraid of. Being cooped up with the pack for the rest of your life. It sounded so exhausting. Although others love that kind of life, I was not one of those people. Addilynn and I spoke so much about what's been happening for the past eight years and so much I missed. I feel sad about it, but no regrets about my choice in leaving. The door opens, and Santiago walks in, looking exhausted.
"Allison, I thought you would have left by now," Santiago speaks, and you can feel the coldness in his voice. I look at the time, shocked to see we've been talking for almost five hours.
"I didn't think it would be talking for this long. I just missed my best friend," I tell him.
"Yeah, don't you think it's time for you to leave?"
"Santiago, don't be rude."
"It's okay, Addilynn. I understand he wants to spend time with his mate." I sigh as I got up to leave.
"I'm sorry, Ally, Santiago is still upset about the choice of you leaving; it hurt me the most," Addilynn said.
"It's understandable that he wants to protect you," I say my goodbye and leave, devastated.
My choice of leaving affected a lot of people, close friends, and family. I look up at the night sky and decide to take a walk to the river. I had missed the fresh air of the forest, the smell of water, and the stars that shined brightly in the sky, including the moon glistening in the water. As I lay on the cold grass, crossing my arms at the back of my head and laying on them, looking at the beautiful sky.
I was about to close my eyes when I hear a rustling sound. In panic, I hide myself behind the trees. My eyes widen with surprise as I see a huge silver wolf approaching the stream of quiet water. Silver wolves were very rare; it was shocking to ever see one in person. Never thought I would even come across one.
The large wolf transformed into a large naked man who entered the water, as I stared with amazement. He was so beautiful; I couldn't look away. He had long silver whitish hair, very tall and very broad shoulders and really masculine. The moonlight shined on him, the water making him glisten. I could not see him properly because how far he was from me, but you wouldn't miss the beauty of that man.
I quietly tip-toe unnoticed as quietly as possible, hoping he doesn't spot me. Judging from his aura, it was really powerful, and I don't think I would want to cross paths with him. My mind couldn't even stop thinking about that man, but I knew I wouldn't see him again. It was odd because a stranger wouldn't even dare to cross our borders, let alone swim in our river. Even if it was a visitor from our neighboring pack, they wouldn't be allowed to swim in the river, unless given permission.
So this must mean he was part of our pack, but who could it be, because all my life of living in the pack, I've never seen him before. I let it not cross my mind as I ran back to the pack house. I open the door as I walk in, I come face to face with the worst person. I swore I'd kill her if I see her again.
Cecelia Beckenham. My worst enemy. As you all know there's always a villain in the story; she was mine. She was tall, with a small figure, had curves with long jet black hair with gorgeous blue eyes. She had an innocent look which made her get away with everything. She looked pure and so innocent yet so evil inside. Her parents were top warriors in the pack and were always praised with such good looks and very talented.
"Cecelia." I said with a low tone, gritting my teeth really hard. She smiles while giving me a putty look.
"CeCe, you ready?" Candice asked as she looked at Cecelia and looked back at me. "Oh hey Allison, I heard you were back. It's good to see you."
Candice was Cecelia's best friend since they were young. Candice was really friendly, and she has such a great personality. You can't help but love her; the problem was she was really close with the devil next to her. Cecelia and Candice were angels in the eyes of people; the problem was she was hiding behind Candice by masking her evil side.
"Yeah I'm ready." She said in sweet tone. "See you around Ally." She walked past me with and evil smile. All the horrible memories I had all came flashing back. The one reason I told myself I'll never be back here was because of her.
