"Let me guess what you're thinking," Alessio laid back on the bed and when he straightened one of his legs, the loose coffee-colored pants fell halfway down from his ankle, revealing an old scar at his Achilles tendon. He pushed his bare foot against the bedpan above him, "You're awake, but don't want to get up, and you plan to lounge in bed until the afternoon, am I right?"

His new top bunk roommate replied in the same lazy tone, "I haven't slept until I woke up naturally in a long time ...... Besides, what else can we do here aside from eating and sleeping? Fight with the gays over the gym equipments?"

Alessio smiled, "Do you want to go to the video room and watch a movie? They're showing《Top Gun》 today."

"Oh come on, do they think that putting a patriotic brainwashing film will have the effect of 'disinfecting contaminated water'? They want to shake our hearts and let us reflect on life so that we would vow to turn over a new leaf, then in the future, do community volunteer work, go to the hospital to care for cancer patients, or work for the prison where there is a huge shortage of manpower to become a correctional officer and so on?" Sha Qing's indifferent voice seeped down through the gaps of the bed.

Alessio simply couldn't help but laugh- the guy sleeping in the top bunk was more interesting than he thought, with a snarky mouth in complete contrast to his soft exterior. He cleared his throat and said, "Well then, you go continue with your sleep. By the way, there's a regular card game on the eighth floor after roll call at 4 p.m. I want to take you there to see it."

"Why?"

"Because that time is a good opportunity that could show us the current state of affairs more clearly." The Italian further explained, " -We could see what's the White Tower's latest situation between 'tenants' vs. 'tenants', 'tenants' vs. the guards, and guards vs. guards."

Sha Qing thought for a moment and said, "I don't think a game with a fixed schedule like that would welcome newcomers."

"Yeah, but," Alessio shrugged, "One of the guys went to the 'The Grave' last week, so they're short of one person for a few days now. They're on the verge of blowing their tops."

"Well, you're the veteran here between the two of us, so you have the final say." Sha Qing rolled over and was about to sleep again, but suddenly he heard a series of dull footsteps approaching their cell.

The iron door with a small square of thick glass was knocked on a few times, and the guard's voice sounded outside the door, "3145-107, you have a visitor. Come with me to the meeting room now."

Before Sha Qing walked out of the cell, he heard Alessio mutter behind him, "Why do they always call you by your number? You're not a robot."

Sha Qing wasn't surprised when he saw the person who was waiting for him in the meeting room. In fact, he nodded in assent to the man's ability to act with not a minute to lose.

The man who was impeccably attired greeted him warmly, took his hand, and shook it vigorously, "I'm glad we gave each other a valuable opportunity. I'd like to formally introduce myself again: Channing Gonzalez, principal lawyer at Nykert Law Firm, with thirteen years of experience in the practice of law. I will take care of the whole process and eventually win your case, trust me-" he glanced around for a moment and cautiously leaned close to his new client's ear, "Mr. Sha Qing."
