Recap

I looked at Seth and studied his eyes, his lips, everything about him. I soaked it all in and turned back to look at my reflection in the mirror. Studying my own features and sighed.

'I will wait for you, Seth. I love you to much to ruin our relationship. So that's why your right. No sex until marriage.'

And that was a promise I was willing to make to both myself and Seth.

Aislin's POV

After Seth had dropped me off last night, I had gone straight to the shower then to bed; not bothering to tell Amber how the date went so I could avoid her asking what happened the the stained dress. I did not want to go through that so I just told her I was tired and went to bed. When I woke up, I felt strangely refreshed which was odd because I never felt refreshed on a Monday. I sighed. Monday. Once again the start of the school week.

I shrugged and got up so I could make my bed then dressed into a pair of black skinny jeans, my white converse and my favorite white shirt that had one side slipping off my left shoulder, exposing only that skin. I threw my hair into a pony-tail and added a little bit of black eyeliner and mascara before heading downstairs to get breakfast.

I found mom making chocolate chip pancakes in the kitchen and the heavenly scent nearly swept me off my feet. Andrew was also in the kitchen, helping mom with breakfast while Amber was setting the table. A feeling in my gut told me something was wrong but I shook it off because I was in too good of a mood to care. I went over to kiss my mom on the cheek and hugged both Andrew and Amber from behind, "Good morning my wonderful family." I said.

Mom gave me a warm smile and nodded, "Well, you're in an exceptionally good mood, honey. Did your date go well last night?" She asked. That's when Andrew and Amber stopped to listen. I swallowed, "Um...yeah. Actually it did." Amber sat down, "Tell us what happened." I sighed, "I told you, everything was great. We went out to eat and then kissed goodnight." I said, thinking back on our heated make-out session. Yeah. 'Kissed' goodnight. More like made out goodnight.

I took a plate from the table and grabbed two pancakes and glass of milk before setting down and eating. Everyone followed after and that same uneasy feeling came to me again. This time I listened to it, "Is everything alright?" I asked suddenly. Mom and Andrew looked at each other then back at me. That's when I knew something was up. I folded my arms, "What? What is it?"

Mom shook her head, "Nothing dear. Everything is fine." I sighed and was about to take a bite from my pancake when mom stopped me, "Actually, sweetie, there is something. Something we need to tell you. Well actually...both of you." I looked up at mom and she was looking at Amber and me. I looked at Amber and she shrugged when I raised an eyebrow. "What's wrong mom?" Amber asked.

Mom took a deep breath, "Aislin, Amber, you...two aren't really sisters." My jaw dropped and it felt as if everything was tipping over. Not sisters? How could we not be sisters if we looked alike. Well...we didn't look exactly alike but we were both the same age and had the same mom and dad. I sighed, "What?" Mom nodded, "Amber, you are my true daughter, my biological daughter, but Aislin..." She said as she looked at me. My eyes widened. Oh no. This couldn't be happening. No, no, no. This was every kids worst nightmare.

Being told they were adopted.

I didn't want to hear it. I couldn't. Just thinking that the people I had known and loved my entire life...weren't really my family at all. I felt tears come to my eyes as mom's next words confirmed my suspicions, "Hun, you're adopted." The tears spilled over and I jumped up, "Adopted? You waited sixteen years to tell me I'm adopted?" I whispered painfully. Mom stood up after me, pleading with me, "Aislin, please sit down so we can discuss this." I shook my head violently and grabbed my bag lying on the floor, "I'm going to school." I said bitterly before barging out the front door and running down the sidewalk.
