Recap

Aislin's POV

I swallowed, full of fear by now, and clutched to Mason's arm, "W-what's going on, Mason? W-why is your father here?" Mason was about to reply when the door was knocked down and at the door, stood a tall man about the height of 6'3, broad shoulders, lots of muscle, black shaggy hair and cold green eyes that bore into you like a bullet striking your skin. He had the most sick and twisted smile plastered on his face just as he studied both me and Mason slowly.

He was holding a knife in one hand and a shotgun in the other.

Oh shit.

Aislin's POV

I felt my heart beat beginning to accelerate when Mason's father took a short and small step foward that was enough to make both me and Mason nervous. The man grinned but it looked all wrong. It was as if he had sharpened his teeth with a knife because they looked pretty sharp to me. Well, they might have looked sharp because Mason was half werewolf. Who knows what kind of mixed up creature his father was.

The man looked straight at Mason, humor and evil glimmering in them, and then he looked straight at me. I felt extrememly uncomfortable under his gaze because it felt like I was nude under his stare and he could see everything.

After a few moments he finally blinked and placed the knife he was holding into a pocked on the side. But he kept held of the shotgun in his otherhand.

"Well, looky here who I've got. One squanderin' mutt nearly shaking his legs off and another vampire pet. What's the matter, boy? Do I make ye' nervous?" The man's voice struck the tension in the air so hard that you could literally feel it growing more.

Mason hardened next to me and his frightened gaze turned to one of both anger and desperation. "Father. What are you doing here?" He asked in a whisper. But I knew his dad could hear it.

His father let out a hard laugh and spit on the ground as if it were the most natural thing to do. I wrinkled my nose in disgust and felt my own anger rising. "Well, now that you ask that, boyo. I came here to get some revenge! You know what that is, don't ya?" He spit again and this time his gaze turned into a menacing glare when he looked me up and down. From anger to disgust to anger again.

He met eye contact with Mason again and spit at his feet, "You sicken and dissapoint me, Mason. What got into that thick head o'yers? Somethin' wrong with it? Since when did you like...vampires?" He spat the word as if burned his tongue and I let out a sigh of anger.

"You're no lilly in the garden either, smartass." I had meant for it to be under my breath but once I spoke it, I instantly regretted it because I was then slammed against the wall hard enough for it to crack and nearly pull me in. I gasped and looked up to see Mason's father glaring down at me while his big, meaty hand closed slowly and painfully around my small throat. I began to gasp for air as he murderously began to choke me to death. When is the time where you don't want to breathe going to happen when you need it?

I felt my vision beginning to blacken out in small dots when I was dropped to the floor and was gasping for breath. I weakly lifted my head to see Mason being held by his father in a tight head lock that would have killed a full human instantly.

At that moment, it was a strange sense of déjà vu and pain tightening in my chest as I watched Mason struggling to get away from his father. But the attempt seemed futile because compared to his father, Mason looked like a weak rag doll. And Mason was well-built and strong. Though, the pain of seeing Mason being attacked like this went searing and ripping at my heart viciously as the last picture of Seth and him being attacked and killed by Jessica. I wouldn’t stand for it to happen again. I couldn’t. One death was enough but another death. No…I wouldn’t be able to live with myself. And nothing could heal me that time.
