Are You Some Sort of Genius?

Steve had died the day she went in to the coma. She had a feeling that he was most likely dead but she hoped it was as an old man and not like he did die. He died a hero and perhaps that should have made her feel better but it didn't.

Another horrible realization is that she was now officially older than her twin. She had always been the younger twin. She never really thought about it before but twins would never stay the exact same age forever. One of them would die before the other.

She never wanted to be older than Steve. She somehow always imagined their death to be simultaneous. Logically she knew that was unlikely but the idea of living without Steve was always an abstract idea. She never really considered the reality of the possibility.

At least Peggy was still alive. Though she was in her 90s, she was at least a friend that knew her and her life. She was at least a connection to Steve and Bucky. However, she knew she would lose her soon too.

Everyone she knew was dead other than Peggy. Howard, Bucky's parents, Rebecca, and everyone she met during the war. All gone.

She couldn't even find where Peggy was because after she retired from SHIELD, she faded in to anonymity.

After she finished finding out about her family, she began searching for everything that she missed. She was happy that they won the war. At the very least, Bucky and Steve died for something. However, after they won the war, the world kept spinning maybe even faster as ever.

Each new thing she looked up about the last 66 years led her to more and more things. She searched for hours until the computer suddenly shut off. She began pressing the power button but nothing happened.

"The laptop has died, ma'am," a disembodied voice says.

She jumps and whips her head from side to side, trying to find its location.

"Who's there?" She asks.

"I am Jarvis. An AI program designed by Mr. Stark."

She read about artificial intelligence in her online searches. The only good thing about this whole situation was how advanced technology was in this time. Her mind was already yearning to use and learn all the new things this world had to offer. There were so many questions she had before and now it could be all answered at the push of a button.

She was even able to look up Tony Stark and she knew that she would have many questions for him about his technology. She could already feel the scientist in her taking over to avoid the grief. That was always her MO. Use work to distract from anything painful.

"I didn't mean to break the computer," she says.

"It is not broken. It just needs to be recharged," he says.

He directs her to a charger and tells her how to connect it. Once it's plugged in, it begins turning back on. She thanks Jarvis but then she gets uncomfortable at being watched. Though she's looked up Tony, she doesn't really trust him. She knows he's some sort of superhero but that doesn't mean he has her best interest at heart.

That's when she starts looking up observational technology. There's full branches of government that are specifically dedicated to cybersecurity. She learns about things such as hacking and writing code. She's disgusted by the invasion of privacy that seems so simple in this day in age. Even data mining seems like a horrendous grievance.

She soaks up all this information like a sponge. However, she's always been a hands on learner and is curious on how all it works. She begins messing with the security coding after reading a couple books online. Apparently you can buy books online now and there was already a credit card on file.
